Walt Disney Studios recently confirmed rumblings for several live-action projects that have been rumored to be in the queue. They’ve also made a few announcements for other new projects that will also be in the works including A WRINKLE IN TIME and THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS.

Others include live-action reboots of animated properties including CRUELLA, TINKER BELL, and DUMBO projects as well as sequels to existing reboots including MALEFICENT 2 and THE JUNGLE BOOK 2. Disney’s arsenal of reboots also continues this year and into early next year with ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS (May 26, 2016), PETE’S DRAGON  (August 12, 2016) and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (March 17, 2017).

Disney Parks fans can also look forward to a JUNGLE CRUISE film in the works with Dwayne Johnson set to star fresh off his performance in Disney Animation’s MOANA.

Here’s a look at some of the upcoming projects:

  • Cruella with Emma Stone set for the title role and Kelly Marcel writing.
  • A Wrinkle in Time with Ava DuVernay attached to direct and Jennifer Lee writing.
  • Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson set to star and John Requa and Glenn Ficarra writing.
  • Dumbo with director Tim Burton and writer Ehren Kruger.
  • Mary Poppins untitled sequel with director Rob Marshall, starring Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
  • Maleficent 2 with Angelia Jolie set to return in the title role and Linda Wolverton writing.
  • The Nutcracker and the Four Realms with director Lasse Hallstrom and writer Ashleigh Powell.
  • The Jungle Book 2 with both director Jon Favreau and writer Justin Marks returning.
  • Tinker Bell live-action film with Reese Witherspoon set to star and Victoria Strouse writing.

No word on specifics for WHEN these films will be released but Disney also confirmed the following release dates for their slate…

  • UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE (Live Action) previously dated on 12/22/17 moves up to 7/28/17
  • UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE (Live Action) now dated on 4/6/18
  • UNTITLED DISNEY LIVE ACTION now dated on 8/3/18
  • UNTITLED DISNEY LIVE ACTION now dated on 12/25/18
  • UNTITLED DISNEY FAIRY TALE (Live Action) now dated on 12/20/19
