That has nothing to do with the entertainment value of Playhouse Disney.

Yes it does. Those people who see the show are perhaps bringing their kids so why is the show doing so poorly for them?

Re: The 2003 Screamscape.com Awards are announced
Because it is incredibly well run, has great rides and is NOT built in a parking lot, but on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Erie. Its a very good park, if you enjoy roller coasters.

Re: The 2003 Screamscape.com Awards are announced
Not to go off topic, but I completely agree with you. People seem to have a perception that since it's an amusement park as opposed to a theme park, that it's nothing but Six Flags quality parking lot coasters. In all actuality, it is possible for a beautiful park to exist without a theme, and I think Cedar Point is a shining example of that. Cedar Fair as a whole maintains amusement parks generally pretty well. And since Screamscape is mainly coaster-junkies who tend to prefer the "thrills first, theme later" experience over that of say Disney rides, it's no surprise that Cedar Point took top honors there. It's a great amusement park with great coasters.

Cedar Fair neglects most of the parks they own with new rides ever 5 or so years. It's only Cedar Point and some of Knotts which gives the illusion that they maintain parks well.

Re: The 2003 Screamscape.com Awards are announced
I don't think that's a sign that they don't maintain parks well. Obviously they're going to favor the parks that do the best, just like how Six Flags "favors" Magic Mountain and Disney "favors" WDW. Lack of new investment in areas that don't bring in nearly as much cash is almost standard practice in the amusment industry.

Re: The 2003 Screamscape.com Awards are announced
Thats just business though. Knott's has tons of competition across Southern California, and thus needs new rides to stay relevant and competitive. Some of the smaller parks, such as Michgan's Adventure simply don't need new rides every year, because the closest competition is 4-5 hours away. Its not neglect, its using good business sense.

Cedar Fair does a fantastic job of running its amusement parks. They recently bought Michigan's Adventure (a small regional park/water park) and in 3 years have turned it into someplace very enjoyable.
