Last night we went up to Viejas to watch the "Nightfire" show. My next door neighbor works at the casino and wanted to take her kids on h er night off, so since I'm unemployed, broke and it was free, i went.

The amphitheatre is nicely put together and seems to have some flexible seating. The fountains were going off to music for the hour prior to the show, i must say my favorite section was "Oye Como Va."

The story is of Nightfire, a medicine man who brought the water back to the Kumeyaay people after the evil spirit Mudthug corrupted the Viejas Spring.

It had some elements that were Fantasmic!-like, but had to see from where i was sitting, you could see the casino RIGHT behind Mudthug (the spirit in the water) and the stoplights were about.. 2 feet above the creatures eyes. It was about 20 minutes long, and very enjoyable. My 6 year old neighbor didn't so much enjoy the loud firework elements. But it was a good story and Nightfire was... well... hot.

As were the firefighters who were around, since the staging area is on Viejas for the Horse Fire. Damn flaming horses.

I liked. The KFC was good. The firefighters were hot. Nightfire was hot. The air wasn't. And Nightfire and some of the firefighters should have wrestled in the fountain *nods* That woulda been hotness too.

All in all, I'd go again.
