The park has changed dramatically in the last 10-15 years. I watch old SFMM videos and the place is bright, vibrant and full of energy (and people!)

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

Have you read the net recently. Last winter there was a revolt led by a major stockholder (Snyder, owner of NY Giants). He fired the previous management and brought in a new CEO who intends to do exactly what you say. They raised prices to drive away the people that spend the least. They are spending an extra $30 million this year trying to clean up the parks. They've added shows, fireworks, parades, chatacter meals, etc.
One of the main reasons Six Flags Magic Mountain may be sold off is that it is too far gone to be brought back to being a family park.

Now they just need to stop hiring teenagers from the Valley and they'll be well on their way.

It is still full of people.... Its just that they are all in line for Tatsu, X, Batman, and the raft ride.
But seriously.... I was there on Saturday and it was quite full from early afternoon through the time I left at 8PM. Most good rides had a 1 to 2 hour line. Batman and the acrobats were running to maximum capacity crowds. Shops and restaurants had long lines.

Yes but its just a completely different vibe. And if there's so many people it wouldn't be in the condition it is today.

Maybe if it wasn't $60 to get in plus $15 parking, maybe more people would go, hehe. It's actually $40 online, though.
Magic Mountain could be seen as the Walt Disney World of Six Flags parks. It's basically their flagship property. Instead of all the other smaller parks they own, they should sell those and just focus on they're main parks like Magic Mountain and Great Adventure. It'd be really nice if Santa Clarita winds up annexing it from Valencia since they apparently want to help Six Flags more than Valencia does.

Or two for one with a coke can, or $28 in groups of 10 or more. My girlfriend's work's MWR bought a bunch at $28 and resells them at cost.
Six Flags has repeatedly said that Magic Mountain is making money, and that they will only sell if it is a huge offer.
The problems with Magic Mountain are many. 1) The land may be worth too much to turn down an offer to sell it. 2) The coaster to "other-ride" ratio is way too far out of whack. 3) Huge park in horrid condition, so it will cost a lot to fix. 4) Poor reputation. Seen as a hangout for gangsta's and other ill behaved teens. 5) Too much competition in SoCal for the family market they want to target: Disney, Universal, Seaworld, Knotts.
By next year, I hope they double the price of the AP, slice the price of the one-day ticket in half, return pricing to $10, improve the capacity of some key rides (Tatsu, X, Batman, Tidal Wave, Rapids, Log Jammer), improve the head of the line pass, and continue to improve entertanment offerings, and continue to clean up the park. Perhaps return to having concerts in the Golden Bear theater, get the monorail working again, get the waterfall working again, clean up the landscaping, polish up the theming, etc.

Once that giant chili dog by Psyclone gets painted I'll know they are on the right track.
