can one of you lovely folks tell me if the Ripleys museum is gone... and maybe suggest some of your favorite " things you take people you like to" places

Its not gone, it has locations all over the world.

The Ripley's in Buena Park near Knott's has been closed for awhile (it has been converted into a restaurant). The nearest Ripley's is in Hollywood, at the corner of Hollywood and Highland. Last I checked, there is still one in San Francisco. The one in Las Vegas closed a couple of years ago.
