• Water-infused dance contest leading charge for Tokyo Disneyland's "Natsu Matsuri" summer promotion

    Tokyo Disneyland is kicking summer of in Japanese style with Disney’s Natsu Matsuri festival. Apart from typical Japanese summertime decorations, special merchandise and and menu items will also be offered during the event.

    In a watery celebration at Cinderella Castle, Mickey and crew will host the Soryo Kobu dance contest amidst large amounts of water being sprayed. At night the show takes on a different tone bringing in lights and fire for an eye-catching spectacle.

    Tokyo Disneyland Presents “Disney’s Natsu Matsuri”

    Tokyo Disneyland will bring in the summer season with a Japanese-style festival presented with the Disney touch from today through August 31. Titled “Disney’s Natsu Matsuri,” this brand new special event features exciting programs with tons of spraying water and high-energy dancing.

    The main venue of “Disney’s Natsu Matsuri” is the plaza in front of Cinderella Castle. Here, things will heat up with a lively dance contest by Mickey, Donald and all their Disney pals amidst gigantic columns of water shooting out from around Cinderella Castle.

    The dance competition, called “Soryo Kobu,” starts with a preliminary contest during the day. The Disney pals lead eight different dance teams, showing off their moves to hip hop, Latin and pop music, all with an added Japanese element. As the contest heats up, huge columns of water shoot up from around Cinderella Castle, soaking everyone for some wet and wild fun as the guests join in the dancing.

    At night, it’s the final competition between the four winning teams from the preliminary rounds. The stage is colorfully lit up, and the excitement is turned up with more music, dancing, spraying water and blazes of fire creating an exhilarating summer bash for all.

    During this event period, the Park will be decorated with lanterns and banners typical of a Japanese summer festival. Guests will also enjoy a variety of special merchandise and special menus themed to the “Disney’s Natsu Matsuri” event. Furthermore, the buffet at Sherwood Garden Restaurant in Tokyo Disneyland Hotel will offer savory pancakes, chocolate-covered bananas and other food typically enjoyed at Japanese festivals.
