The hotel’s name, Shu’mata, is the Masai name for “Heaven” or “above the clouds”. And when you see this hotel, I’m sure you will understand why. Located at the edge of Kilimanjaro, the camp is surrounded by savannah bush full of wildlife.
Guests stay in large African tents in true safari fashion. These large tents form a line on a hill, providing breathtaking views in all directions. Each tent also come complete with its own veranda, where guests can sit, eat meals, and take in their surroundings.
Each suite comes complete with a bathroom. There’s a rather interesting way in which the camp provides hot water to its guests’ showers: the water is heated over a large fire, and then brought to the bathrooms.
The Mess Tent is where all of the meals are served. It is divided into three different themes including Vintage, Safari Baroque, and Arabian nights. The Mess Tent features huge cushions for the perfect spot to relax. Or you can choose to sit by the fireplace under the open sky. But no matter what, Shu’mata Camp is sure to offer its guests lots of fun and excitement.
