• Inside and In Depth: “Lights…Camera…Magic!” Adventures by Disney one-day tour of Los Angeles

"Lights…Camera…Magic!" is a day-long tour held by Adventures by Disney giving participants the chance to see the sights and sounds of Los Angeles with an exclusive tour of the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

The chartered bus trip is led by two Disney Adventure Guides who become best friends during the voyage as we travel from point to point. They answer questions, share knowledge, and are responsible for special surprises all along the way.

MouseInfo had the opportunity to be part of a special media-only tour last week and we're happy to report that the voyage was a fun romp around the city that out-of-towners would likely enjoy as part of a bigger trip to the Disneyland Resort!

    Full pictorial below!

Our morning began bright and early in the lobby of Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. Here, we met our awesome Adventure Guides Haneke and Natalia! Here is where we're briefed on the tour and we very quickly make our way outside to begin the journey!

On the bus, our Guides let us know about the first Hollywood attraction we'll be experiencing... Los Angeles traffic!

We finally arrive at our first destination, Hollywood and Highland which offers great views of the Hollywood sign!

Our guides take us around the Hollywood and Highland complex giving a history on the location as well as explaining the historical significance of the elephant homage from the 1916 silent film Intolerance. For more than ten years, similar elephants marked the entrance into the Hollywood Backlot Studios at Disney California Adventure.

You'll notice a coincidentally convenient promotion for Cars Land!

    Onwards we go!

We then made our way to a photo-op area where we got to take a picture with a blank star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame which would later have a custom name added onto it.

After a short break, we made our way to the Dolby Theater for our tour!

Unfortunately, photographs are not allowed inside the theater but we were given this keepsake postcard as a reminder of the gorgeous high-tech home to the Academy Awards.

As part of the tour, we walked into the formal entrance lobby of the theater, got some great historical viewpoints on the theater, learned about the Academy Awards and were also allowed to enter the Dolby Lounge which is the exclusive VIP area for the Academy Awards where celebrities can grab a drink during commercial breaks.

We exited the Dolby Theater and made our way back to our bus which was waiting for us at the rear of Disney's El Capitan Theatre.

The building for the El Capitan Theatre is wrapping up an extensive refurbishment of its exteriors. We walked passed it on our way back to the Coach.

If you're familiar at all with the LA area the first part of the tour is not going to be much of a thrill but for me the whole thing was worth it just to see the Walt Disney Studio. We didn't pay for our media tour but at $199 a person it's definitely worth a consideration. It's a full day well spent and it ends at DLR so you can play in the parks once you're done, too.

That's awesome! The last time I really looked around the LA and Hollywood Area was probably in 1995 or '97 so I'm sure it would all seem new to me haha! When you had the appies and drinks was that just for the media tour or would that be the same for anyone? It all looked so amazing!

I've always wanted to tour the studios. Is this the only way to do it? $199 is still pricey even tho it would be worth it!
