Hollywood’s legendary El Capitan Theatre is thrilled to present Walt Disney’s animated masterpiece “Cinderella” for a special limited engagement from August 15 through August 30 2012, announced today by Lylle Breier, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Special Events for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In addition to this limited screening, guests can enjoy a special exhibit of themodern-day Cinderella inspired slipper created by famed red-sole designer Christian Louboutin as well as a special live appearance by Cinderella before each showing of the classic Disney film. Louboutin, whose designs are the epitome of style, power, femininity and elegance, wasinvited by Disney to bring “Cinderella” to life with a fashion forwardtwist. As part of this collaboration,Louboutin designed a pair of “Cinderella” shoes putting his own magic touch onthe world’s most famous pair of slippers. This collaboration comes on the heels of the globalrelease of Disney’s animated classic masterpiece “Cinderella” Diamond Edition on Blu-rayÔ coming to market this fall.
Daily showtimes are 10:45 a.m., 2:00p.m., 4:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now, and available at the ElCapitan Theatre (6838 Hollywood Blvd.), online at www.elcapitantickets.com, or by calling 1-800-DISNEY6. Theatre will also host a very special “Tiny Tot Tuesday” on August 21,at 10:45 a.m. During this special screening of “Cinderella” parents and smallchildren can enjoy the movie in a “Tiny Tot” friendly way––complete withlights dimmed rather than out and reduced sound levels! Walt Disney’s “Cinderella” was originally released in 1950,and went on to become one of the Studio’s all-time most successful andbest-loved animated classics. “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” was nominated for a “Best Song” Academy Award®,and the film received a second nomination for “Best Score.” Directed by Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske,and Clyde Geronimi, “Cinderella” follows the rags-to-riches story of a beautifulyoung girl who is reduced to being a servant by her jealous Stepmother andStepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella.
Cinderella gets the chance to escape the drudgery of herworkaday world when her Fairy Godmother magically appears, gives her abeautiful dress and a magnificent coach, which allows her to go to the royalball. She inadvertently falls in lovewith the Prince, but makes a mad dash for home at midnight, the hour when themagic spell is due to end. With only aglass slipper left behind as a clue, the Prince and his Grand Duke set out tofind the shoe’s rightful owner. With thehelp of her little mice and bird friends, she is discovered and assured a truefairy tale ending. “Cinderella” isbased on a fairy tale written in 1697 by French author Charles Perrault.
