• TravelEAR Abroad: Walt Disney's vision of the future is today at the retro-kitschy Atomium

Welcome back, travelEARS! Today we take you to a really unique hotel that only kids can spend the night in. This is the Atomium.

So what is this strange place? Well, many may think it resembles something that would fit perfectly in Tomorrowland…

    About This Hotel

    Location:
    Brussels, Belgium
    Typical Cost:
    $100 / night
    Website:
    http://atomium.be/

The Atomium was built for the 1958 World’s Fair (Which will probably make Disney fans think of the famous 1964 World’s Fair). The structure symbolizes an iron crystal, magnified 165 billion times. It wasn’t until 2005 that a project was done to create an educational place for kids at the sphere.

This hotel is open for school groups with a minimum of 10 kids and has room for up to 24 kids total, plus 2 accompanying adults. During the day, there are various activities done to promote science and discovery.

At night, H2O (raindrop) mini-spheres drop from the ceiling where they are suspended during the day. These translucent tents have lights in them and are used as shelters during the night. The floor transforms into an awesome city of raindrops, which is really cool to see.

Of course, you can end the night looking at a panoramic view of Brussels from the spheres. So next time you’re in Brussels with your science class, you might want to look this place up.

See you next week as we continue to take you, the TravelEAR, Abroad.
