Consider this hearsay for now but we've got some details on a few of the upcoming holiday treats in store for the holiday season once the Jack O'Lanterns and orange bunting from Halloween Time are put away. The holiday offerings are growing even more this year at the Disneyland Resort.
is the newest offering coming to Disney California Adventure for the holiday season. Akin to the "Opa! A Greek Celebration" (at DCA
and at DL
) event earlier this year, the new event will bring a bit of Latin holiday flair to the Paradise Gardens with entertainment, food, and more.
With the previous Opa! offerings as a template, guests can expect the holiday-themed event to include character greets in the gazebo, local music groups at the Gardens stage, special holiday treats (we're guessing tamales are a requirement) at the Garden Grill, along with crafts/activities and more. Disney has been experimenting over the past several months/years with their "Small World Celebrations" which are initiatives to drive more local tourists and engage local markets.
Plus, we're also hearing word of a new holiday street show
coming that will feature dancers, performers, and the Three Caballeros. Think Disney Channel Rocks on a holiday scale, likely to perform inbetween Jumpin' Jellyfish and the Paradise Gardens where Block Party Bash and High School Musical street shows formerly their parade stops.
If that's not enough, some existing features are also expected to get holiday layovers including Five and Dime
, featuring a holiday-dressed Goofy and the Red Car News Boys.
With such a large emphasis on new additions at Disney California Adventure, it really begs the question if Disney is testing the waters this year on providing more holiday offerings at DCA to help compensate for the loss of others should Disneyland Park start doing separate-ticket Holiday Party events like they do currently with "Mickey's Halloween Party." It's been rumored that the popular Believe... in Holiday Magic and A Christmas Fantasy Parade may become part of an upcharged separate event that is not included with regular admission. The increased number of holiday offerings this year might be a step in that direction.
As we mentioned earlier, take this all with one big grain of snow for now but it looks like the Disneyland Resort will indeed be the Merriest Place on Earth! So now that we're taking big grains of snow with everything... we are also hearing buzzings that the Voices of Liberty
may in fact be returning once again to the Disneyland Resort for the busy holiday season.
The voices of Liberty were originally brought on as temporary summer entertainment in 2012 for the relaunch of Disney California Adventure. The popular vocalists were extended on through the summer into the following holiday season and extended once again through the end of the Spring season of this year.
