• Mom! MouseInfo Is Doing A DVD Review Of Phineas And Ferb: Across The 2nd Dimension!

I have only seen a handful of Phineas and Ferb episodes, but that's because I'm a new fan to the humorous show. Sure, it premiered in 2008 so I'm a little late to the party but the mischevious brothers only came to my attention when they got their Rockin' Rollin' Street Party at DCA.

Since the premiere of the theme park show, I have given the show a shot I have absolutely loved what I've seen! I always knew Phineas and Ferb to be a mature and witty Disney Channel show and now I'm happy to say I'm a fan.

What worried me about a Disney tv-show-to-movie is that it usually just means two or three episodes combined together. Lucky for us fans, this isn't really the case for Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension.

Without giving too much away of the plot, the boys are testing their platypult, they just built in honor of their anniversary of getting Perry as a pet. While testing, they end up in Dr. Doofenshmirt'z lab. They offer to help Dr. D fix his cross dimensional portal not realizing that he is actually evil. After opening up the portal, they end up in an alternate dimension where a truly evil Dr. Doofenshmirt'z has taken over the tri-state area.

While in the alternate dimension they must try to find their alternate selves and even an alternate Candace and Perry, to help save the tri-state area and get back to the reality. During the whole ordeal Perry must make a choice on whether he should reveal himself to the boys as Agent P, which means not being able to see them ever again, or risk Dr. D taking over.

What I loved about this movie was we get to see real emotional development from the characters that we don't usually see in a cartoon. We never usually get to see Phineas upset or Candace not trying to just get them into trouble. But with Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension, we really get to see what these characters are about. I really hope they continue with this character development for the series.

Usually, I don't talk about the DVD menu but even this one is hip and cool just like the show. There are many hidden secrets throughout the menu, even one that lets you go to an alternate dimension that brings up the Bonus Feature options. The first option on the Bonus Features is Perry-Oke. This allows you to sing along with songs during the movie. Also, Dr. D's Jukebox-inator lists all of the songs from the movie for easy access with the option of Perry-Oke.

Attack of the 50-foot Sister is the episode with commentary that can be either turned on or off from the show creators. While in another dimension menu you also get an option to see eight deleted scenes from the film. Some are extended scenes but most are actual deleted scenes, including one with Dr. Doofenshmirt'z daughter Vanessa, who for some reason is completely missing from the movie.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy the made for television movie as much as I did. But after watching Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension it now has made me a huge fan and now will probably follow the series regularly. This is a great DVD for not just for children, but really for anyone that is a fan of the show. Now I can't wait to go to Disney California Adventure and watch their Rockin' Dance Party!
