• Dia De Reyes returns to Disney California Adventure culminating the Disney Holidays

As the new year draws on and Disneyland eases off of the busy holiday season, the crowds are still showing up in full force. Before Disneyland can go into a quiet spring season and prepare for its diamond 60th anniversary this summer, there's just a little bit left of the Disney Holidays with the annual Dia De Reyes celebration at the Viva Navidad area in Disney California Adventure.

We stopped by for a look at the festivities and also enjoyed a brisk walk in the bright moonlit park.

The Dia De Reyes overlay has returned to Viva Navidad in Paradise Pier.

Mini version of traditional Rosca De Reyes dessert returns once again.

This tasty version is topped with fruit jelly and baked with a single almond inside symbolzing the tradition of baking a small baby Jesus figure inside the bread. As the tradition would dictate, the rosca (or wreath) is sliced into pieces and whoever got the piece with the baby figure would be expected to throw a party.

New this year--or at least we don't remember this last year--is Storytelling about the importance of the holiday.

The two narrators both don guitars to sing about the holiday.

It seemed to pull in a crowd!

Minor dressings around the area were updated from VIVA NAVIDAD to DIA DE REYES.

    Free face painting.

Crafts and activities for the little ones.

The fantastic VIVA NAVIDAD celebration continues through January 6.

Never knew they did this but following the VIVA NAVIDAD street party, there's a photo-op afterwards with one of the floats and several performers from the show.

Ghirardelli has already moved on from the holidays and onto Valentine's Day.

Didn't realize this sundae was new when we got it but it's pretty spectacular. The Chrissy. It's served with two mini squares over a scoop of vanilla and cookies n' cream ice cream with hot fudge, crumbled cookie, and whipped cream.

Perhaps a milk shake is more your flavor?

    Cocina Cucamonga.

    Elf Mickey Stein.

    With hot chocolate it's $10.79.

Animation academy has been overtaken by Frozen where you can draw Olaf and Marshmallow.

You can drown away your sorrows at a failed character drawing at OFF THE PAGE where tons of Frozen merch is on the ready.

Or perhaps this great JOSE sculpture showing the character's original color scheme as he appeared when the attraction first opened.

THE JUNGLE BOOK by Thomas Kinkade.

Went into the shop to see if the clever ploy of this mannequin creating small holiday boughs with blue ribbons was carried into the shop, alas it was not.

But there was a clockwork tree with a hidden Mickey in it.

    Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel!

You can still get ornaments customized by hand.

After the sun went down, the mostly clear night sky created for some fun photo opportunities with the moon.

    THE END!
