Santa may have already made his rounds for the 2011 Christmas Season, but as he flew over Anaheim last night he might have taken in quite the sight over DCA which is full of construction projects that are wrapping up for 2012.

Today, finishing details are being added to the dusty buildings of Radiator Springs in Carsland but just 9-months ago, the former Timon parking lot was full of nothing but rebar, metal, and dirt. Across the park this was the trend with Paradise Gardens and DCA's new main entrance all under frantic construction.

Courtesy of the imagery provided by Google Maps, we take an aerial look at the construction over Disney California Adventure circa March of this year. Join us as we soar over of Disney California Adventure for a bird's eye view of the construction sites.

    BUENA VISTA STREET

Before anybody can make their way over to Carsland, they have to pass through the park's main entrance, of course. As you can see here in March, the old turnstiles were still open as the CALIFORNIA letters were freshly removed and the earth being prepped for the fancy new turnstiles that premiered in July of this year.

Meanwhile, just past the still existing Golden Gate Bridge (which would be gone by the end of July) you can see that in March the Carthay Circle Theater site was still mostly just being prepped as a giant mound of earth sits approximately in the area of the new fountain.

Below you can see two different angles of the construction site for the new DCA entrance. For a preview of what Buena Vista Street will look like, check out our coverage from the Imagineer presentation at D23 Expo: "A Sneak Peak at Buena Vista Street."

    PARADISE PIER

Goofy Sky School opened earlier in June of this year just a few weeks before the entire revamp of the Paradise Gardens eating area. By the end of July, a gorgeous lush new themed area reminiscent of turn of the century elegance was open for park guests.

In it's simple splendor it's hard to believe that this area hasn't even been open a year and yet it fits in perfectly with the new direction for Disney California Adventure. In these photos from March, you can see crews frantically working to meet the June deadlines which—due mostly to weather—were pushed back and delayed. Quite the contrast to what could be seen at the end of June!

    CARSLAND

The ever-changing saga of Carsland. Perhaps the most rapidly changing part of Disney California Adventure currently is the area that is quickly becoming the cutest little part of Carburetor County with the construction for Carsland.

In March hardly a finishing detail was in place as you can still see foundation being poured, rebar being formed and mountains being created!

I thought I'd cap off the update with a fun photo showing the last remaining vestige of the former use for this area as the Timon Parking lot. Ironically, the area remains a parking lot for construction crews. Interestingly, you can see the original white slanted paint marks painted over in black so that new lines could be painted, better suited for the needs of the crew parking area.
