As part of the ongoing Limited Time Magic Campaign, today was the first day of the "Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue." Guests wanting to see the show waited in line to be able to receive a ticket for the show time they desired. About 45 minutes before the show time, guests were allowed to line up to enter. Seating was first come first serve.

The show itself is great. I was left wanting a bit more though. More about Wally Boag and Betty Taylor, but Ms. Lilly does touch a little bit on the history of the show. Hopefully the show gets enough positive response that it can remain past the three weeks. It is a great addition to the entertainment at Disneyland. Many thanks to Drew Hackney and @ivansteel for their contribution to the article.

    Frankenweenie shocked me.

Yes, I start right off the bat with a cheesy pun. Sparky... electricity... shocked. Ha! But truly, I was shocked by Tim Burton's CG creation about a young boy and his dog. One, because it was a great flick. And two, because it did so poorly at the box office.

I was shocked because this was really the first Tim Burton film in a really long time that felt like a Tim Burton film. It had incredible CG, memorable characters, and the dry dark humor that is typical of the filmmaker. And yet, it only managed to dig up about $34 million at the box office.

FRANKENWEENIE is available now on Blu-ray and DVD and if you haven't seen it yet, do yourself the favor and watch it! If you're a fan of the Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and the twisted dark stories of yesteryear then you are bound to enjoy this movie.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominations this morning for the 2013 season and a few under the Disney umbrella are up for a few awards this year, 5 to be exact. If you count "Lincoln" which Disney distributed for Dreamworks it brings the count to 17.

It's another quiet year for Disney on the whole at the Academy Awards. The interesting piece to look out for will undoubtedly be Best Animated Feature Film with BRAVE, FRANKENWEENIE, and WRECK IT RALPH up against each other. Could Pixar lose out for the second time in its history on best animated feature? Will Ralph wreck Oscar?

    This year, Disney's nominations include:
    • Best animated feature film of the year
    • “Brave” Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman
    • “Frankenweenie” Tim Burton
    • “Wreck-It Ralph” Rich Moore
    • Best animated short film: “Paperman” John Kahrs
    • Achievement in visual effects: “Marvel’s The Avengers” - Janek Sirrs, Jeff White, Guy Williams and Dan Sudick
