Last week, Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney World VoluntEARS spread some holiday cheer as they delivered nearly 35,000 toys donated by Cast Members and Disney for the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.

Disney has supported the annual toy drive for more than 60 years, dating back to when Walt Disney himself helped design the original Toys for Tots logo that is still used today.

Every once in a while on the web, you might see a Photoshopping or two "real-life" reinterpretations of Disney characters. Sometimes they are spot-on and sometimes they are barely recognizable. Either way, these types of images are fun looks at how the cartoon people we've come to love might look if they were flesh and blood people.

Jirka Väätäinen is a graphic designer in Finland who achieved such a feat. It started with a general curiosity to explore character development and ended with a fully designed and digitally painted recreated Disney character. But he didn't stop at one or two... to date he has created more than a dozen Photoshop works envisioning what Disney characters might look like in "real-life!"

Jirka took some the time to chat with us about his work and we're happy to share this interview as well as a look at the pieces he's created!

Disneyland Resort has officially announced that it will once again be celebrating the Mexican traditional holiday of Three King's Day. Entertainment will include folklorico dancing and Mariachi musical performers, Disney characters in festive, colorful costumes and holiday photo opportunities. Younger guests can participate in crafts like face painting, crown making and coloring.

This year, however, instead of the tiny Zocalo Park in Frontierland, the festivities will be taking place in the much more spacious Festival Arena as part of the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree in Frontierland. The special celebration will run January 4-6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

These ceremonies are a maritime tradition and an opportunity for the Captain and the ship’s officers to celebrate the inaugural call on a new port, as well as for local officials and leaders to welcome the ship and guests to the community.

The Port of Cartagena greeted the guests and crew members of the Disney Wonder with traditional music, folkloric dancing and an offering of mixed tropical fruit, as a symbol of hospitality.
