The Disney Parks Blog has released a teaser portrait of "a sneak peek of one of their upcoming Walt Disney World Resort projects." There have been talks of an interactive queue coming to Walt Disney World's Big Thunder Mountain queue and this image could potentially fit quite well in that setting, especially with the teaser that “His obsession with gold will ultimately lead him to ruin.”

Bearing an unmistakable resemblance to Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter, the painting is very likely supposed to portray the greedy prospector who founded the mining town on Big Thunder Mountain. As the attraction's backstory goes, the sacred lands are cursed and thus the spirits take over the trains to scare off greedy miners.

Disney formally announced the phase-in of the MICKEY CHECK symbol into Disney Parks today. It is slowly being phased in at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort and is expected to appear on table-service and quick-service menus by early next year. By the end of 2012, the icon is expected to appear on Disney-licensed foods products and on qualified recipes on Disney.com and Family.com.

The MICKEY CHECK concept was introduced earlier this year as part of Disney's MAGIC OF HEALTHY LIVING initiative giving parents a quick and easy way to identify nutritious choices that address family needs.

It's a busy day for Oz news! Apple Trailers today unveiled the second official trailer for the upcoming OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL. The new trailer gives us an even more in depth look into the world of Oz and the characters within it.

An astute eye might notice what can only be an intentional tribute to Dorothy with one of the Oz children dressed in pigtails with a straw hat and a white and blue dress. There's still no clarification on who the green witch is although a few select scenes seem to show quite clearly that Evanora (Rachel Weisz) is somehow tied with the Wicked Witch of the West.

    Stills available after the jump!

Last night, we shared a slew of new images for the upcoming OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL and no sooner than we hit the PUBLISH button and went to sleep, Disney released the final piece of the trio of poster images that we'd previously mentioned (here and here.)

The new poster, as expected, features the yellow brick road, the twister, and the emerald city. Interestingly, the new final segment of the poster also features all four primary actors in the film, James Franco, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, and Rachel Weisz.

Wreck-it-Ralph would still be a terrific movie without music, but it's the soundtrack that really brings this movie together. But not just any music. Filmmakers tapped diverse and unexpected artists to help tell the story.

Composer Henry Jackman created the film’s score, which is complemented by original songs and music from Skrillex, AKB48, Owl City and Buckner & Garcia. Directed by Rich Moore, produced by Spencer and featuring the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, Wreck-It Ralph crashed into theatres on November 2.

The film’s soundtrack from Walt Disney Records is available now.

With the release of Walt Disney Animation Studio's Wreck-it-Ralph last week, the studios wanted to push the artictic and technological envelope, especially for its 52nd film.

Wreck-It Ralph features nearly 190 distinct characters, including many fan favorites from classic real-world video games, which required 3D realizations that were true to the characters’ original art. The Walt Disney Animation Technology team, led by Chief Technology Officer Andy Hendrickson, worked with production artists to build a system that automatically creates the animation controls for the characters in a way that is flexible yet repeatable, because, “creating controls by hand for that volume of characters is just infeasible,” Andy notes.
