Tiki. It was a phenomenon that swept the US in the 1950s and 1960s. It's the idealized visualization of a fruitful tropical paradise and a pop-culture theme that lent itself to many a pub, bar, tavern, and inn during that time. It's an idealistic theme that has since lost its mainstream popularity but continues to thrive in dwindling numbers within dark watering holes across the country.
These few remaining tropical relics of the past are what author James Tietelbaum is in search for in his book Tiki Road Trip - A Guide to Tiki Culture in North America. Miss Piggy joined fanshion designer Donna Karan to celebrate the official FDNY 2013 Calendar of Heroes as part of a pre celebration for Fashion's Night Out. Miss Piggy was the official fire girl for the evening, and a portion of the sales for the calendar will fo to FDNY Foundation.
Miss Piggy is no stranger to being a fashion icon, she stepped out last year on the 2012 Academy Award Red Carpet in Zac Posen. In a completely unrelated turn of events, both the Main Street Lockers and Space Mountain will be closed from September 10 - 13. Main Street lockers will be getting a refurbishment while Space Mountain gets its GHOST GALAXY layover for the Halloween Time season.
A few weeks ago, Disneyland launched the HalloweenTime 2012 website and yesterday they announced the Halloween Carnival at Big Thunder Ranch which will include crafts, character greets, and the new "Magic Cauldron Sideshow."

A special press announcement will be made later today welcoming the first Disney Baby Store to the Americana at Brand in Glendale, CA. Earlier this year, Disney launched the DisneyBaby.com website offering up special toys, advice, tips, and a blog all geared towards families with babies.

Walt Disney Animation Studios debuted a newly restored print of the what was thought lost 1928 Oswald the Lucky Rabbit animated short "Hungry Hobos" at the Telluride Film Festival on September 2nd.
The film follows the misadventures of Oswald and his roughneck pal, Putrid Pete, as they ride a freight car loaded with animals and devise ways to cook a meal using the tools at hand. Beginning in November, “Celebrate the Magic” at Magic Kingdom Park will transform Cinderella Castle with spectacular new projection effects. The show is a replacement to THE MAGIC, THE MEMORIES, AND YOU which used actual guest photos taken each day projected onto castle. The new who promises no such interactivity however it did not seem to add much value or interest to the previous incarnation of the previous show.

Walt Disney Studios, in collaboration with designer Christian Louboutin, announced a search for the modern day Cinderella. One lucky woman will be awarded with a pair of the Louboutin shoes inspired by the famous glass shoe. The national search begins on September 4th and is in celebration of the Diamond Edition Blu-ray release of "Cinderella" on October 2nd.
