I don't think you get it.
The ride is themed to a midway game. Midways games are in piers. This ride will be in the Paradise PIER section of the park. For a better looking section, Disney will change the look a little. Many piers had victorian style facades on game fronts/store fronts and they look way prettier than bland stucco walls with neon lights patterns like waves and dolphins. So now that placemaking is happening, they are rumored to build a facade thats themed towards "victorian" or whatever. So it fits...........

Well yes, the rendering was done in a cartoonish style.... not an old time victorian pier painting. however, as others have mentioned, the ride vehicles themselves have a victorian influence. Not to mention that the entire ride theme inside could have the same feeling.
Oh Alias, how I loved thee. I will miss you Sydney Bristow!

Lets hope that AL Lutz is correct on his latest story. He describes the Midway Mania show building as being a highly themed victorian building.

What is that saying...
"No good deed goes unpunished"
Maybe i'm off a bit on the proper saying. I think you get the gist of it.
Thanks again!
Wow, I'm excited for the "highly themed / detailed Victorian building. I really hope that it fits nicely with screamin. I'm afraid that if it looks like a huge structure, Screamin will look awkwardly humongous (doesn't that roll off the tongue!).It's kind of fun to do the impossible. - Walt Disney

No I get it. The ride is a great fit for the pier. Actually I think it's a great fit with the Pier's non-specific time period.
I hope the facade is spectacular, but I still see no connection between the Toy Story characters or the modern midway games and an old fashioned Victorian feel. I don't even think the vehicles look Victorian.

but according to the WDW thread you do see the connection between the midway theme and the toy story characters in MGM studios
----now we really are confused.

My love affair with the Hotel del Coronado continues...
I put this together last week but wasn't very happy with it. It looks like a house plopped down on Paradise Pier. But in light of today's article, I thought it could add to the discussion. Al said Midway Mania would look like "a very finely detailed Victorian seaside resort. Genuine clapboard will replace the stucco, and gingerbread woodwork trimmed with Main Street style lightbulbs will replace the vinyl signage and strips of neon." In light of that, my faux-concept art doesn't seem too far off. The central signature building could be the "open air pavilion" he referenced.
At any rate—in lieu of the lack of available concept art—at least it gives us something to discuss!

ok now remove the construction walls, add some more landscaping and maybe remove the bottom floor from the hotel to make it a ut shorter.
ACtually if you can move it over to the left a bit so that the carousel is inside the large dome area

Great pic Ex! the carousel all ready looks better with some landscaping in front of it.
From what Al describes the new pier it reminds me a bit of the Boardwalk Inn at WDW just not being 4-6 stories tall. Anyone know when the placemaking is suppost to start or will it start once the front building for TSM goes up?"Tomorrow will be better for as long as America keeps alive the ideals of freedom and a better life."
