I rode it when it was in operation. The roof tops bug me. So do the two big holes that cut through the Matterhorn. The mountain looks much better with them, at lest mostly, covered up. The big steel towers also looked like big power lines running right through the park. When they took the thing down, I was amazed at how much better that whole area looked. Sorry, but I'm glad it's gone.

I agree. While I have fond memories of the Skyway, I'm glad it's gone. Its time had come.

Want a much better Skyway experience about 90 minutes from Disneyland? Head up the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway! That thing is amazing, especially with the new revolving cabins. The view from the top of the mountain is even more spectacular.

And they have a great bar up there too, The Lookout Lounge! The heightened elevation means you don't have to ask the bartender to make it a double either. http://www.pstramway.com/

As for Paradise Pier, I checked out the construction on Midway Mania this week for myself. It really is stunningly apparent that there are two very different design themes on display here now. The pictures I see online don't do it near enough justice, you must see it in person. The Midway Mania building is clearly from a different design school, with a much bigger budget. You don't quite realize how ugly and bland Paradise Pier was (and still is in some sections), until you see the new Midway Mania complex and surrounding redevelopment in person.

It DOES really look great! It's giving me a kind of NOS vibe, with all that detail in the building. We can only hope DCA will get more and more of this attetion to detail in the enhancements to come...

There was nothing better than standing in Tomorrowland and watching five levels of movement throughout the land, which was supposed to be a future on the move. They were the People Mover, the Subs, the Autopia, the Skyway, and the Monorail. Tomorrowland was so much more kinetic back then. Now that the Subs are back one more level was regained, but we are still missing two. I do see a possible return for the People Mover on the horizon, but without the Skyway Tomorrowland we will always be missing that extra level.

This is just what the Pier needs, in a land that is mostly big thrill rides, the area really needs a family that everyone can go on. In other words, a ride where there is no need to worry about high blood pressure, back problems or anything else.
