I believe that the concensus is that the newest technology LEDs, when properly setup and ventilated, will go at the very least 20,000 hours before any noticable dimming, but upwards of 50,000 hours is "common" before significant or noticable dimming. 50,000 hours = over 5 years of constant use, probably more like 10 years practical use. So it still makes sense cost wise, becuase they would pay for themselves in electricity saved and require less maintenance.

Well, as long as it doesn't diminish Main St. in any way I would certainly be happy with replacing the old bulbs with LEDs.

But I do object to the idea that it would "solve" the problem of burned out light bulbs on Main St. It's not like burned out bulbs is completely out of management's control. The issue was resolved years ago by the practice of replacing the bulbs before they ever burned out.

I think the point is that if management is no longer willing to keep on top of this particular detail, another solution must be found. LEDs currently look like the best option, as long as the light quality/color temperature isn't diminished or changed.

I look at it this way: More efficiency = less cost for operations = more money over time for maintenance, theming, attractions, etc.

Is it just me, or is this attraction really trackless? At least without the big beam and with the technology from Sallycorp? Or did they alreay anounce this?

No, it's not trackless. The track is visible from the LP photo. It's easy to miss, so I highlited it here:

Maybe this is a tribute to the original name (and the better name for the attraction), as a gift from the Imagineers to us...

Yeah, I got pretty excited when I saw it too. Then I noticed the track...

    Perhaps?

I will still go with what has come from Imagineering until proven otherwise. DCA is getting Midway Mania. The song Potato Head sings says Midway Mania OVER and OVER and OVER.

So if someone forces TSM then it is obviously a turf war. WDW can do what it wants as far as I'm concerned. WDW guests line up for anything so they aren't going to care. They could call it Toy Story the Ride and nobody would notice! BUT DCA should get the original title to fit the theme.
