Agreed Jspider. If you think about, the Route 66 idea is just not right at all. The part of Route 66 present in CA is mainly desert... neat stuff... but not what is represented in DCAs current form... if anything, a Route 66 area should've been incorporated with Condor Flats... having a (dare I say lol) radiator springs type of desert town is exactly what CA Route66 is.
I feel that their ideas of what the Route 66 section should be has more to do with 'getting' to CA than it does with CA itself. An awesome idea would have been to have the entrance area be Route 66 as a sort of Main Street area... wherein you're 'going' to CA along Route 66... get it? The entraceway is Route 66 and you're going into CA as Americans did for years... then you arrive at CA dispersed out from the Sun court area etc...
Now that would've been storytelling on a Disney level...

They made a stab at Chinatown with the Fortune Cookie...but it was a pretty pittiful stab. Maybe they could build a stage area over in the wharf next to the restaurant and have a sort of Chinese New Year celebration with those goregous dragon puppets once a day.
I also thought it was weird to have a Californian themed park without any trollies. Maybe a trolley line from the wharf to the pier near the zephyr?

^I would assume that construction would pick up during CA Screamin's lengthly refurb coming up. Since Midway is kinda intergrated into CA Scream, it seems logical that they would take advantage of this widow of opportunity.

I'm not sure, but I thought it was very soon. Maybe this weekend is the last weekend it's open? I believe it's down for 2 months as well. Driftwood would know better.
