Having been on The Disney Quest Pirates attraction this is somewhat based on, I don't remember laser pointers at all.

Again, this will be a different kind of target than Buzz.

And if people have never experienced the Disney Quest Pirates game, it is hard to communicate how much fun it is. YES the 3D objects/targets will move out of the screen and you can shoot them and your shots will seem to fly across the room at those targets. I am guessing as you change games, your shots will change from a dart, to a stream of water, to a ball, etc. Think of the 3D movies when objects come out and seem to hover in front of your face. Now shoot it! But in this case it will be many targets moving quickly. Imagine if air were to blast in your face every time you popped a balloon!

Having experienced the Disney Quest Pirates game I can't wait for this attraction. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.

    A note...

If i recall properly, not all this is a shooting this or that and such... it's a variety of midway games. You have a pointer. It's your means of interaction with the ride. It's like the Wii game controller thingy sorta.

That's been a big point of development with desingers for a few years. To make some sort of control that is multi-functional and interactive - particularly in ride developement. "How can I involve my audience without resorting to 'something goes horribly wrong' scenarios?" they like to whine.

Well, they developed the technology with Where's the Fire at Epcot. It's a pointer. It interacts with specialized screens.

Someone apparently got the bright idea to make those screens into 3-D movies. Nice touch. Synchronization to movement with 3D is a fine art in ride technology to boot.

Add in some loveable Disney character.. aww.. cute

Then throw in a variety of Midway games (toss you some rings, squit the water in the clowns mouth as you coast by, fire off rapid fire ping pong balls toward unsuspecting goldfish), and you've got this new ride.

It was a nice car, it had a cpu built into the remote and was completely rebuilt twice. Yep, AA's are fun to build tho!!!!!
The AA's that Disney builds are much more complex than that. Any Imagineer will tell you that AA's are very expensive to build and maintain.

That's why they don't make many anymore. Usually they will make one here and there for a new ride. That's why you don't see those AA extravaganzas anymore.

AA's aren't the new thing anymore. I think Disney has moved on to new things such as the new special effects for Nemo and TSM. AA's are really cool, but other cool stuff is out there now for Disney to play around and experiment with.

Not necessarily. WDI is still working on updating the technology. A few years ago they developed Lucky the Dinosaur and have made many advances in making AA's more realistic. I think the days of AA filled attractions are over, but AA's are not dead yet.
