Showpass isn't for preferred viewing, it's for ANY viewing. 9000 capacity for the entire amphitheater, not just preferred viewing.

I think the arguement is being made for non amphitheator seating? I'm not sure how that will even work though to be honest, I guess there will be a few spots along the back of the lagoon? But I can't imagine it looking half as good from the back. I mean it looks like most of the projection effects will stack their layers towards the front.

The side views might be alright I suppose? Its really going to be interesting to see how this entire show goes down really. Even if the showpasses don't have a line in the morning, I'm sure you'll see something stack up as the APers poor out of work or whatnot . This will definitly push more people to stick around all day as it gives the best oppertunity to the early goers who think.

If this stacks the right way your going to see a Fantasmic like situation were if you don't have a spot your told to keep moving.

Hopefully its a success and pushes them to keep the park open later.

2 shows a night has to happen if the show is popular.

Which is something people aren't taking into consideration, as well. Rebooting this show, as Steve Davison stressed at the D23 press conference, is relatively EASY, CHEAP, and QUICK. (Gadzooks, coincidence?!?) It can be rebooted for another show pretty much on the fly.

Unlike Fantasmic (dozens of performers, loads of pyro to be loaded, tests and checks before and after each show) or even fireworks (loads of pyro to be loaded, tests and checks before and the each show) World of Color utilizes mostly water and effects.

On that note the show will also be scaled back for various types of weather conditions with more modest jets of water in windy conditions, etc.

You can forward the video below to 4:35 to hear about the weather restrictions or scoot forward to 6:18 to hear them talk about rebooting. Here's a recap of rebooting:

Sayre Wiseman: On peak days we would definitely run it twice a night. The show turns around very easily.
Steve Davison: It's user friendly and that's what's nice about the show, it's very easy, we can turn it around in 10 minutes and do another show. There's nothing to reload.
Sayre Wiseman: If the first show is full, we'll definitely [run the show again]

Of course there will be a variety of factors that will go into the decision to run the show again but this is a variable to take into consideration that hasn't really ever been possible before with other spectacles at the parks, it's easy quick and cheap to do!

so will the second showing occur while the rest of the park is closing?

I'm just kinda curious about this because with their current schedule the parade and most likely world of Color will all run pretty much conclude minutes before the park fully closes. The park really doesn't stay open as late into the night as it should. How will they manage turning over the show on the fly without doing some strange things to park hours? (and tweaking whatever reservation system they set up)

Epcot runs Illuminations at park close nightly. The first big boom is the queue to shut things down. DHS will commonly run Fantasmic about 30mins after park closing. You're expected to be in the theater or such during that 30mins.

DCA doesn't have any long attractions, but if you got on Great Movie Ride or several Epcot rides at 8:59pm, then you're not getting off until like 9:15, which at Epcot means Illuminations is ending and at DHS means you have to dash to make Fantasmic.

Both also keep the main retail locations open late to get last minute sales.

Edit to add: A common occurrence at DHS during the Christmas period is the Fantasmic-dash. Spectacle of Lights closes with the park, The first show of Fantasmic draws people away from it, so folks go see the lights during the first show (the two shows are about an hour apart). That show unloads, Spectacle closes, guests swim upstream a bit until they get to the entrance of the amphitheater, sit down, get comfy, and Fantasmic #2 starts that 30mins after close.

It's not going to be put in instantaneously. I'm guessing it'll be a much longer process than emptying the lagoon was.

Actually shouldn't it be much faster? The water was slowly taken out to be processed and dumped back in the county water basin (instead of quickly sucking it out and dumping it in the sewer)
