Yep, we were there last night and they were testing. There was a big crowd excited to see what was going on. I forgot my camera. There were big spouts of water shooting in the air and a wall of mist with a grid hologram. After they did some testing a woman would boat out to the display and do adjustments or whatever.

    Here's a pic from DisneyGeek's website: Disneygeek's Disneyland Update Friday, February 19, 2010

From what I understand this is the roof of a stage that will elevate like the tomorrowland stage for use during the day. I havent seen it in any of the concept art but has anyone heard on how they are using this? Is this going to be covered in wooden planks and also used as a viewing area during WOC that people can stand on? I find this a pretty interesting structure.

It's continuous with the lower boardwalk so it should get wood on it to be part of the boardwalk.

It raises up level with the 2nd tier behind it. It does not have anything underneath it such as an underground level like the Tomorrowland Terrace, but it raises that piece of land up to the 2nd tier level to that it can have something on it for special events etc.

Until I see it in use it seems rather pointless...

so i dont know really well how to link a picture to this but in Nftysqrt's recent update, there is a comment about sand bags in a projection casing. could the sand bag looking things really be anti moisture type packs that would keep the projector from getting foggy or projectors damaged? I know at my bank, we have a vault-esque machine near the merchant teller window that stores cash so that tellers can keep lower amounts of cash in their drawers (minimizing losses in the case of a robbery) and inside this vaultesque machine is a large bean bag looking thing that does something similar, keeping the machine dry, the money dry and other components dry that allow the machine to function better.

That's the trick! I think they are testing the water-proofing and or the lift for that container. The sandbags are simulating the weight of the projector just in case something goes wrong they don't lose a very expensive projector!

BTW with datroglodyte's avatar does anybody else keep thinking that it's an OG Nintendo game? I know it's the window in Monster's Inc but my peripheral vision keeps seeing a game!

Waterproofing maybe, or just removing the projectors for some reason but adding weight to keep the platform's weight distribution the same. Only the center projector cabinet has a lift under it - which I haven't seen tested yet, but am assuming is to lower only the back of the cabinet, tilting it to an angle so it can project on the inside of the center mist screen when it's tilted forward.
