Right, spitting teens, etc. too. Yuck. These play fountains have cleaning systems to keep the water clean. They have to.

Technically (not like this'll actually happen) most play fountains have posted rules prohibiting diapers - kids that age need rubber covers or swim diapers.

    Ho boy. It begins.

Oh, and to continue what I've been saying about the show needing to be more than just video and fountains jumping to music, and to continue judging it by videos...

Look at the stampede section in that video... What I see there, are projections, red fountains jumping in front of them, and spotlights that flip towards the audience... I'm still not seeing anything more physical than projections and jumping fountains... Now I thought it was originally explained that the water would rush towards the audience as if the stampede was truly there and rushing towards you?

^ I agree MoonRaker with the show needing more. I will wait until I get the chance to see it but I think that's what has made Fantasmic so big is the fact that they're costumed characters moving around on the island/river. I just don't know if people will connect as much to World of Color besides thinking it looks pretty.

^I had the exact same concerns Moony, you'll remember long long ago we discussed that in this thread I believe... I couldn't grasp how a 25 minute show with just water would be very interesting. How different can fountains move to be interesting for such a long time. I had the same thoughts but then something struck me last night... what's so inherently interesting about fireworks? In essence you're staring at sparkly lights in the sky set to amazing music. World of Color will pretty much be sparkly lights with the addition of water set to amazing music.

I honestly can't argue much in the inherent difference in what's being presented with fireworks versus what World of Color is doing with fountains and that gave me a little more hope that WOC really can be a salvation or awakening for DCA. Maybe you can help sway me back on your side of the fence but fireworks are a must-watch for so many people and it's pretty much the same concept... people standing to watch sparkly lights dance in front of their eyes. Thoughts?

I've always thought a big factor with fireworks is the explosions. Things go KABLOOEY and I think humans are naturally drawn to it.

In essence though, yes they are the same thing. Also, this is DCA providing what it can being it can not have a fireworks show, so in essence, this is DCAs fireworks snow, not its Fantasmic.

I know I've mentioned it before, but I'm likely just riding off complete personal bias. I've never found fountains to be that interesting. When WOC was announced and it was said how it would be something we've never seen before, I was very curious... but so far, I have yet to see anything suggest something beyond dancing fountains and colors. (Again, going off of what we've seen, but we have seen quite a bit).

An example I've always told my friends that will make or break the show is the butterflies. I've always said, if they're on the screen, and then fly down onto the water, and it looks as though they're truly flying around the marina like a physical object, then I'm sold. But if they just sit there, and look like fountains sort of shaped like a butterfly, then blegh. So.... yeah....

They show could really go either way. Either it will really blow people away, or the bits and pieces seen from videos that people have complained about during testing will prove true. But still, I just wish people would not be so quick to judge until it finally debuts. The night of June 11 after people have seen the "official" debut should be the time people can say what they think of it. Even with the likely soft-openings, I would not be so quick to judge. They will obviously be judging people's reactions to parts of the show and will make adjustments as needed up to June 11 and beyond. So it will be interesting to see if the show changes through summer even. Disney has always done this with previous shows.

I think length is going to be the biggest question here but we'll see how things go when the show debuts haha

They could also retool most of the effects to work as background magic and leave the Pier open if things went too bad rather then having it be one single focused event. But I don't think it'll come to that. I'm betting the whole thing remains rather successful for at least a few years.

I don't know Moon, I think you are probably going to poopsie your pants the first time you see it. And I'm pretty sure you are excited about it, even though you are playing the "it already has problems, and is not impressive card."

I can't stress enough that what you see in the videos IS NOT what we will see in the final show. Everyone can have their opinions, and people can hate it, but only until they see it in person.

I can't wait for AP Previews! Hopefully they will announce it soon!
