World of Color Has French Touch, video:
‘World of Color’ Has French Touch Disney Parks Blog
By now, you’ve probably read enough about “World of Color” to know that it’s an amazing collaboration of water, light, color, animation, music and fire. Walt Disney Imagineers developed all these breathtaking elements for this nighttime spectacular, but they had some help from our friends in France.
The very talented Fabrice Kebour and Claude Lifante spent a lot of time in California as part of the “World of Color” creative team. Fabrice is one of Europe’s leading lighting and projections designers, with more than 150 productions to his credit. Claude is a world-renowned laser designer and programmer who has worked on laser productions all over the world. Both men have worked on projects for Disneyland Paris. They’ve loved working on “World of Color” for the Disneyland Resort. I had the pleasure of interviewing both of these men. Check it out.

Oo.. i knew something about it reeked of pretentiousness.
Seriously Disney PR - we're not the Japanese who think the French are high culture. Saying something is French just makes me roll my eyes and wonder how many union strikes delayed it while they debated what French name to give it since "World of Color" is an entirely english phrase.

I don't know... while I'm keeping my mind open and willing to let any sort of crowd control issues not affect my WoC experience... having this Celebrate! - A Street Party wannabe forced down my throat may kill me.Pura Vida

I couldn't help myself and watched a bootlegged video of WoC in high def...well...2 parts so far - I'm up to Chernabog...
I think I need to change my underpants...color me impressed. I cannot believe what they've done with light and water...and the show moves from one scene to another so fluidly and so cleverly. I can't wait to see the end of the colors of fear.

Tron 2.0, I love you.
The French may not be the captains of industry they once were, but when it comes to arts they are tip top. They obviously did a bang up job with the lasers.Jaleel White does not approve.

I'm a fan of the music tracks for all these Disney shows, so questions for those who have seen WOC in person: does the sound from all the water jets and misters interfere with or drown out any of the soundtrack? and is there a surround sound effect anywhere in the main viewing area?

^ not at all. there is a massive new surround sound system that was installed in the viewing area.
you can't hear any sound from the water jets, in no way does it drown out the soundtrack.

Thanks, good to (not) hear. I hope to catch it this weekend, even if not from the prime viewing area, it should be interesting to catch the overall ambience.

That raises an interesting point. Since Disney is closing the main viewing area to anyone who doesn't have a fastpass or a dinner reservation and not even letting standby guests in to fill in the plentiful empty spaces and making those guests watch the show from the other side of the lagoon... is there any sort of sound in those locations? Are there any speakers over on the bridge to Paradise Bay? Certainly with how loud the show was the soundtrack would carry to these areas, but especially over by the coaster it would be rather echo-y and not in synch with the show. I don't think I've seen any pictures of them installing speakers along the boardwalk...
Just another reason to get rid of Fastpass I guess...So there.
