I don't know what the view is like from the boardwalk...but if you get there at a decent time and want to pay $10, the bartender that was at "The Cove" bar yesterday was telling me and my friends that at a certain time they start charging a $10 cover charge and you can watch the show from the bar area.

I can't confirm that this actually happened. She could be misinformed, but its definitely worth checking out!

For those of you that have gone, if you get the fastpass, are you in an area where you are squished together with other people like sausages or is there a nice amount of space?

Cover Bar was to begin charging a $10 cover charge after 7:00 pm and that includes all guests that are already in the bar area. Beware, it's a lousy place to watch the show. You're viewing the projected images from the side and slightly behind. Would you pay $10 to watch a movie from the adjacent auditorium. Yeah... I didn't think so.

Isn't the 11:15 pm performance a free-for-all? I already think it's time to eliminate the FastPass. It's making it so difficult to see World of Color. Premium dining for a portion of the viewing area is fine, but why do they need to reinvent the wheel for the rest of the viewing area? Fantasmic runs just fine and the prime viewing area (the space people sit down in for a couple of hours before the first show) is smaller than WoC. What's so different about this damn show? Honestly, Disney is creating crowd control issues with FastPass, not solving them.

The third show is not a free for all. Fastpasses are issued for the third show, as well. I'm not sure when they are distributed, I imagine by the time second show "sells out" the decision will have already been made as to whether or not a third-show will be done so they issue them shortly after. That, or they are counting on third showings through the summer.

Some pictures from June 11, 2010... DCA is packed!!! Interesting to note, they also decided to sell ponchos on the boardwalk... a definite MUST if you plan to watch the show from the boardwalk and remain dry.

Also, for Friday, they limited Paradise Pier to one way traffic only. You could only get to the northern end of the Pier through the Route 66 area and could only exit through the Ariel's Grotto area.

I'll add in on the sideview issue...

It is horrible from the sides. I can't say anything about the back (I've heard most of the effects are still visible), but I can speak for viewing it next to SSS. From the sides you see NOTHING. None of the projections, the sound was terrible (had an odd echo effect), you see none of the laser effects at all. I'd say unless you simply want to watch the fountains do their thing and not even be able to understand the context of the show, don't watch it from the sides.

Oh yeah, I was in no way suggesting that they should sit over there. Simply giving them options aside from Fastpass. I wouldn't even want to watch it from the bridge...and that's ticketed!

The bridge from what I could tell is actually a really decent spot.
