    dlfreak,
loved the clip of the Hellfire sequence. A question, what camera was used, and do you know the f-stop setting that was used?

My video camcorder is a Sony Handycam HDR CX-110. I LOVE it!! As far as F-stop, I don't know, I just used the regular auto mode. I did up the saturation and played with the brightness and contrast in post-production, though.

How are the laser effects from behind the show? Seems to me like all you can get a good view of from the back is the fountains and the fire... but to me the star of the show is the lasers.
    So there.

So so at best. It's definitely not desirable to see WOC from the back but if it's the end of the day and you're in DCA could be fun to head over to TSMM a few times and then catch part of the show from back there.

You certainly get a different perspective of the show and some things are clearer, Cheshire Cat for instance is very easy to see without all the lights and fountains blocking him. You also get a really good feel for the different LED and low-level effects.

I'm processing video right now of the full show from the back. I was standing on the western side of the Don Tomas turkey shack which is probably your best bet to see the show from the back. For the third show we were literally the only ones back there except for the Toy Story Midway Mania CM's who came out towards the end once they'd finished shutting down the attraction.

The BACKSIDE of WORLD OF COLOR as seen from near the Don Tomas turkey shack... the acoustics are not so great with some serious echos off of the TSMM building and I believe off of PPH. It almost sounds like there's one of the speakers delivering too early...

Will they be using the figure 8 piece of equipment in the future? I imagine that it is also a mist screen that put the projections higher, and then we'd see all of the balloons during Up, and other projections in the show.
Did I read someplace that the figure 8 doesn't work as planned? Anyone know?

For better sound, with just limited personal experience so far from the "backside", I would suggest backing off a good ways from the water's edge to reduce the echo effect, and also try to get in front of a speaker. Near the Hot Dog Hut you also get a pretty decent view, and as has been pointed out, for the 11:15 show there are very few people in front of you to block your video.

I'm about to go to Disneyland/CA Adventure in a couple of weeks (the 21st) and am trying to do as much research as possible to ensure I am able to see World of Color and in the best possible view. So is the 3rd showing at 11:15PM done every night or do they decide to do a 3rd show based on whether there is a demand for it? And doesn't the park actually close at 10PM? I'm not sure how that works. Any info. is appreciated!

The park hours have been "extended" to 11pm every night since the show's premiere, along with "adding" the 11:15pm show. The reason the quotes are there is because everyone in the park is scheduled to work until 11pm anyways....it's not like these 11pm extensions are being done sporadically. I would expect the park to remain open until 11pm for the remainder of the summer, despite what the official DL website may currently tell you.

Thanks for the info, 1FoolishMortal! I was hoping that'd be the case. I heard the 3rd show is the least crowded so that'd be great if there is one when I go. Thanks again!
