If you arrive at DCA between the late-morning and about 4 or 5pm, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a Fastpass for the 11:15 show. There's also no picnics/dining for that show so it's generally easier to get a FP for it. Hope that helps.

Depending on the day Fastpass does not even "sell out" for the third showing.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

^ This is true. I was there on Saturday and when they announced around 6pm that DCA would be open until 11, they also tacked on that there were still FP's available for the 11:15 show. I'm pretty sure they never ran out cause the viewing area didn't look 100% full for that show.

I'm curious... usually when they decide to keep DCA open until 11pm, the calendar on the disneyland website changes. It hasnt' changed as of 8:30 tonight, so I'm wondering if they actually did stay open late, or if this is the first time they haven't "added" a 3rd show. Perhaps the website is back to being inaccurate.

We've been told that the Earthquake is officially the reason although there's no word as to whether or not there or not there is any actual damage. However, as there is not enough time to properly mount a full inspection the show has been canceled for tonight. Let's hope, Disney PR has had a few meetings on the cancellation contingency!

Also being told that there's currently divers in Paradise Bay so it COULD be possible for a second or third showing although it does seem unlikely at this point.

A lot of slow rolling ground motion from this quake. I'd say there's a possibility it could have been at just the right frequency to snap something on the platform. I'd make a guess at one of those support cables or maybe a long pipe running along the length of the platform. Perhaps even one of the long lead pipes that run along the bottom of the lagoon.

I'd assume nothing major, but likely just a simple buckling of something.

Might be an interesting case study for structural engineers, the effect of an earthquake on a long, wide, relatively thin object floating in water in essentially a concrete bathtub. Plus whatever direction the earthquake waves were coming from relative to the damage.

This interests me a great deal. A 5.4 earthquake within a 80 mile radius is something that will typically happen once a year anywhere in Southern California. If this earthquake did permanent damage to the platform, then that was not a good design.

    Here's my glimmer of hope:

Maybe the earthquake mis-aligned the laser mirrors just enough for them to need to be recalibrated, and maybe that recalibration can only be performed after hours when the area is clear and a stray beam has no chance of hitting someone in the eye accidentally.

That would be the best case scenario.

Worse case scenario, the sloshing of the water in the lagoon caused some pipes or structures to break. That's a big issue.

Here's what a quake can do to a swimming pool:

    So there.
