The boardwalk is available to anybody in any section since it's technically the "wet zone" and they figure people will only go there if they actually want to potentially get soaked.

On the other hand, like I already mentioned they stopped dividing the boardwalk into the colored sections a while back. So somebody with a Red ticket could choose the boardwalk and walk all the way along it to the "Blue" section. They'd still technically be on the boardwalk, but you'd have a "Blue" view and would be farther away from the fountains than other sections of the boardwalk.

I have exciting news! I'll be back at DLR in March and can't wait to check out WoC!!

I thought I saw a specific thread going about the dining packages but couldn't find it so I figured I'd post here, feel free to move if necessary.

I'm hoping to surprise the friend I'm going with at Christmas with a "coupon" to see WoC with the dining package, my treat. I was wondering if the price of the dinner packages includes the meal or if you pay for the meal on top of the package price. And also which restaurant people recommend between the Ariel's and Wine Trattoria. I remember seeing pictures too in one of the updates but can't seem to find that either. Thanks for any replies

So... I saw World of Color two weeks ago. Here's my review:

The meals my family and I had, part of the picnic plan, were - to my surprise - delicious. We all got the "Taste of Asia" and I wished the portions were bigger, everything was so tasty. We got these in the afternoon, walked down to Paradise Park (which is beautiful), found a bench under an umbrella, and ate there. Only the boardwalk-end platform was submerged. Seeing a couple of guys in a boat, I asked them if they were engineers; one replied, "No. We fix engineering problems." I asked if the platforms DO all submerge; he said "The one at the other end does, but the center one doesn't submerge for good yet. We're still fixing some issues". As to what those issues were, he would only say that there was more than one issue to get debugged. I noticed they had a common spot to take breaks: in the boat, parked on the show side of one of the projector towers right in front of MWF. I saw guys take breaks there more than once.

Come showtime, we waited in a long, long line. And waited. And waited. And waited. They let in the handicapped viewers, and we waited some more. Finally, we noticed why we were waiting: There were maybe 10 handicapped viewers, and the merchadisers were making their rounds, trying to hawk glowy stuff. Finally, we were admitted. The globes nearest the top/back were colored to indicate sections. When we were there they ran blue, yellow, red, from boardwalk end to Zephyr end. Blue also ran most of the way up the sloped part of the boardwalk.

The show itself was spectacular. I've been following construction and testing on here since the first nighttime tests were filmed from the hotel before the lagoon was drained, and I have a pretty darn good idea of what they've got out there. Could they have done better? Absolutely, but this IS their first show on this equipment. For what it was, it was amazing. Beautiful and moving. Yes, there was a lack of flow in some parts. There was no storyline but, remember, there never was supposed to be a plot; WoC was conceived as a sort of ride through colors, songs and emotions, and it absolutely was. The stampede scene? Not completely effective, but cool. The death of Mufasa? Yes, it was an emotional sledgehammer, which leads into "So Close"... which is NOT the transformations as I expected. It leads up to them, the last line pauses-- "So close... So close, and still---" "I love you" - "...so far". THAT was the return stroke of the emotional sledgehammer, and it was PERFECT. Not a dry eye in the house, and I think it made the ramp back up into the transformation scenes all the stronger!

The ending/exit music, the poppy "World of Color", was worth staying to see. And yes, the bit with the orange fountain taking a bow at the very end does look like a nod to Little Squirt. Seeing the show, I can see why Little Squirt might not have made the cut. In a word: Visibility. One orange fountain moving around might get a bit lost. Doesn't mean it isn't a cool idea, and I think there'd be ways to use it.

Spring Sprite/Pines of Rome, with the fly-across and the full 380' projection surface made of fountains: Amazing and beautiful. But the show had magic all the way through; the first vertical jet, imbued with pixie sparkles by way of lasers, is a showstopper in and of itself, the bubbles during "Under The Sea" are subtle but cool, and the projector domes were working. Zurg's laser self didn't show that time, but all other showings I saw, he was working. The Tron bit with the lasers on the Screamin' structure was really well-done, and I, too, noticed the way the WoC ending glitched to introduce it, and glitched back out at the end. From the Blue section, I felt the projections were very clear when they needed to be, and were intentionally mirage-like at other times, such as the bits during the opening (Belle & Beast, Simba, Ariel). The multiplane effects during "Just Around The Riverbend" and the six-projector rainbow were another huge showstopper. There were many times when the entire audience would collectively gasp or start chattering about the effects. The color-changing viewing area globes looked great, too, as did the laser 'rising' water line. The entire crew of CMs waving goodbye to the crowd is a really nice touch.

My family have seen a fair few fountain shows with me, including some of the best I've seen (Liquid Fireworks shows, the Fountains Of Bellagio, NightFire at Viejas Casino in San Diego) and their description of WoC was "Incredible". They loved it - all of it - and kept raving about it. Me, I saw the other two shows that night from other viewpoints, and saw it two more times from other spots on other nights.

Bad points: The butterflies in Pocahontas look great, but they don't run for more than fifteen seconds and they really need a solo spot with less other effects so that people can see them; just butterflies and flowers (opening/closing Transformers) would be perfect. The spinning Fans get lost in the few places they're used. Are the spinning Dancers used at all? I didn't see them, and I WAS looking for them during later viewings from side vantage points. Projector domes showing the same image as the main screen is hokey; if you can't think of anything else to put on them during those times, don't use them! But in general, the show looks great. I can't complain much.

To those talking about the issues with vantage points: There is ZERO way for a show using water projection to be made viewable from all angles. The only way water projection is ever clear is if you're looking directly at the projector through the water. Limitations of the medium, that's all this is. It's unfortunate but true.

Oh, and... The Pillar of Mystery looks awesome. The sides have a misty blue-purple with white chasing upward, and the top egg is pinkish-red with soft, pale pink sparkles. It's a great little light-up thingy, and I think it looks cool, even if it has no "purpose" and is basically a decorative bit of nonsense. Coney Island's Dreamland and Luna Park were full of decorative bits of nonsense. The seating the base provides is nice, too.

...also... Rain Jet (former fountain company) claimed that Walt Disney loved their fountains and suggested they do a musical show. Yet said show ended up at Sea World (Water Fantasy). But I DID see evidence of this interest in a Walt-era show: the Enchanted Tiki Room. The 'enchanted fountain' uses a ring of about 30 1/2" Crystal Cone nozzles around the outside, and three or four 3/4" Ballerina nozzles just inside the ring of pineapples. These are uncommon nozzles now; took me quite a while to find a stash of them, acquired when a local hospital revamped their lobby fountains (one 1/2" Crystal Cone, 13 3/4" Bursting Stars). Do the pineapples contain some sort of jets, too, or do they have lights inside? Surely the big LED lights around the outside replaced earlier equipment - anyone have good shots of its mechanics? Better than my "hold camera up high, aimed down into bowl, after show" shots? The rising jet in the center is a really unique effect, too, and I wonder how many viewers realize how they're doing it...

Also: We were in the "wet zone", right at the railing to the left of the stage, for our first viewing. On windy nights, that'd be a very wet spot. But on the relatively calm night we saw the show, we barely got a hint of mist.

So I finally saw WOC last night for the first time. It was a solid 6 out of 10 to me. In no way will I ever pay for a preferred seat. I agree with others about the viewing area. It is hard to see. When I had a clear line of sight of the entire show, it was much better. Those stupid light globes in the viewing area make great obstructions. Now if I was 7 feet tall, it wouldn't matter!

The parts of the show that were NOT Fantasmic! like, were my favorites. Zurg was a highlight for sure. Why can Zurg be so HUGE and the majority of the show just lays low on the water? This show was really good during the Tron segment. If they can find a way to use Screamin' during the show more, it would be much better.

This show isn't big enough to justify all of the hype, in my opinion. It just feels like Fantasmic! 2.0 for me. It should have been very different and MUCH BIGGER. I would have liked the show to move to a crescendo and then a finale. It felt like it was over three times before the end with those hard finishes and dark pauses during the show.

Given the popularity of the show, I am obviously in the minority. So I will gladly give up my space. Now if I can just find a way to get Screamin' open during the show, I'll be happy
