Monster's Inc. doesn't include you except for the Roz interaction at the end, I don't think Mermaid will either—not in a hugely significant way, at least.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

I agree, probably will be similar style to the comon Dark rides where you ride through the story.

I actually like riding through the story better because it's like the characters are in front of you acting it out and they are 3 dimensional, and its like your in the middle of the story.

I dunno, Disney's not huge on creativity with these types of rides as of late. It'll probably be like driving through the movie. I dislike this as it really does become less about immersive environments and more about a brief summary of the movies plot.
I mean why build the ride if it can't even surprise me on my first ridethrough?
then again I do expect technology to make Mermaid quite enjoyable if it's done classily enough and if it is well put together I'll probably ride it most visits I make to the resort so go figure :P"We all have sparks, imagination... it's how our minds... create creations..."

I'm really starting to wonder how this will fit with other additions. Call me skeptical but I've yet to see a movie based attraction in the states compete with the likes of Haunted Mansion and Pirates. I'm really curious how much weight the opening will really carry.
Al's latest update seems to indicate Disney wants to do some sort of big opening by combining it with the openings of the new Resturant area and Goofy's Sky School.
I can't see this competing with either this years opening of WoC or 2012's Carsland opening. I'm curious to see how this midstep opening really plays off.
Does anyone think that combined with the other scenery upgrades Mermaid will be able to stande above the openings of Monsters Inc and Midway Mania? Or are we going to be looking and medium length lines come summer?
This is all REALLY going to test weather scenery based darkrides can really hold their own or if future darkrides should go the more interactive route I think."We all have sparks, imagination... it's how our minds... create creations..."

J - you've gotta think broader and not neglect the history of the other parks this group designs for.
They're building Mermaid because Seas with Nemo did well.
Yes, it's a psuedo-walk-on but carriers thousand of guests each hour.. like Epcot attractions before it, it loads very quickly. During peak periods the line gets to an hour or more - which is what I expect to happen with Mermaid.

I think Mermaid has a built in audience. Be it more similiar to IASW than Pirates or Mansion, it will be a smash. Great music goes a long way to making an attraction memorable.

You need something to ride while waiting for WOC. There will be 1000's of people in the area and a people eater is needed. Its also in the perfect spot as there wasn't much to do between GRR and MM.
