what could have been done with San Fran?! The Hyphy Mobile? That's So Raven? i can't think of anything disney related that could have been linked with San Fran... keep in mind earthquake's taken at Universal Studios...
I'm confident TLM will create new standards for Dark Rides, it will be great!
    (fingers crossed at least)

Has anyone else gotten the new Imagineering book? It has a full page that shows some really nice models and storyboards of the Under the Sea, Ursula's lair, and finale sections of the ride....

Did those scenes look impressive or did they just look mediocre?
My bet is that they look sick!

I don't know if it's at the parks yet, I just got it off of Amazon:

Amazon.com: Walt Disney Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look at…

The Under the Sea scene and finale scenes look pretty cool, but the other scenes they showed don't seem too big. I have a feeling this will be a more small and intimate dark ride rather than something huge like a Haunted Mansion.

Well, HM does have a mix of both large rooms and smaller ones, like the Attic Scene vs the Ballroom/Cemetary scene... could you guess from the pictures, the relative sizes of the rooms?

You can get an idea for the layout of the attraction with these photos...

I got in LOTS of trouble for this picture/caption combo.. (people have no sense of humor these days )

But it shows off the ride pretty well.

I suppose that's fair enough, at least with the Small World comparison. I'm just unsure if they'll get the ride detailed enough to match Mansion or Pirates. Just not sure I'm ready to buy the hype

Nemo at Epcot probably is a decent comparison for projects Disney's worked on lately. I'm thinking the success of Mermaid won't be easily determined by the length of its line though it'll definitly do better then Golden Dreams. It'd just be sad if this ride only hits at Monsters Inc level and does similar with popularity as well. I hope it helps balance out Midway Mania accross the pond as it were.

Obviously most of the lines for mermaid will be determined off the continued success of WoC and the future success of Carsland.

I think it will have a lot of detail! Almost like Pirates/HM/IASW, where almost everytime you ride it, you see something new! Mark's right about the built in audience, and the music making a ride memorable. We should also remember that TLM won't have to fit itself inside an existing structure like Monster's Inc did...
