and my argument isn't that there is no connection between disney and san francisco, but rather there isn't enough room in the park to do a proper and complete san francisco area.

No I agree, just thought it was random that they chose San Francisco to house the museum. They aren't getting rid of the painted ladies bathrooms, Ariel's is supposed to evoke the period of the San Francisco World Fair and then Goofy's Sky School also has a decidedly Victorian theme plus this on-again off-again beer garden would also help continue that SF vibe through to the boardwalk. I wouldn't be surprised if they do end up making SF slightly more impactful along that north-western end of the pier.

I think they should demolish the paradise pier hotel, re-route the road and build a new PP hotel on top of the beer gardens building.

fyi... check out the concept art for a San Francisco themed hotel once proposed for vegas:

Now that is finally a SF theme for DCA I could agree with. It would be a great backdrop from the park and any reason to get rid of PP hotel is ok by me. I would not want to golden gate bridge though like in the concept because it makes it llok tacky and less realistic to have a big bridge just in front of the hotel.

    Yikes, this is hideous...

    http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com...tybythebay.jpg

It reminds me of the New York New York hotel in Vegas... it's just... I dunno... doesn't float my boat and NEVER for a Disney park.

oh, chill out.... lol. that isn't a concept for a disney park or resort. it obviously screams vegas... and really, by looking at the concept art for the vegas hotel it appears that it is more of a preliminary idea rather than a full architectural rendering. the whole point was that a san francisco themed hotel for the disneyland resort would make for a great theme with lots of different ways they could run with it... and it would make a nice replacement for the Pan Pacific Hotel, uh, I mean the Paradise Pier Hotel.

but even taking it a step further... it might even make a great theme for the often rumored hotel for the esplanade. it would seem like a logical transition between disneyland's victorian main street and california adventure.

oh duh. of course. i actually wondered about the reasons for placing the disney family museum in san francisco's presidio as well, although it is a great city for the life of disney.... and i'm sure the disney family chose it for a reason. i mean it could have been chicago (walt's birthplace), or marceline or kansas city in missouri (for obvious reasons), or burbank or anaheim. i just think though that the walt disney family museum in anaheim would appear "touristy" even if it wasn't...

so, i was under the impression that the little mermaid attraction was going to be part of paradise pier. can someone clarify this for me?
