Yes it will be a part of Paradise Pier, it will essentially be wrapping all the way around. I'm just saying since the Painted Ladies are staying and then the new facade for Mermaid is supposed to evoke the SF Worlds Fair and since Goofy's Sky School will also be Victorian themed, I wouldn't be surprised if that whole stretch becomes a small SF district of Paradise Pier. Kinda like New Orleans Square and Bear Country were originally just a part of Frontierland before they became their own lands.
BTW, I never said that concept art was Disney concept art, I was simply saying it's horribly tacky and I should hope to never see that type of hotel built at a Disney Park/Resort.

i am very happy they are using the san francisco world's fair for architectural inspiration. i've always enjoyed dca and loof forward to all the additions. the only complain i've ever had was that they didn't use the land for the villas as part of the park's expansion... it could've went towards better use, in my opinion, for expanding the bay area or grizzly recreation area with an e-ticket. there was so much room elsewhere to build vacation villas... but business is business and it happened the way it was meant to happen i guess.

I believe there's some sort or agreement with Disney and the city that they would not alter/reroute Disneyland Drive. Not sure where I remembered reading that or whatever possible reason they would have that agreement to begin with...

I think a SF type theme well old Gold Coast esque SF would be a great replacement for PPH. I think that if a hotel is ever built where the bus drop off is before esplande it should be an art deco look to blend in with the adjacent HPB and even with the curves it could workk if seen from TL.

oh yeah, the art deco/hollywood themed resort hotel would make a great backdrop...

it would be pretty cool, i just dunno how they would fit it in there, between the hotel itself and parking, along with other amenities like pools and various other areas to relax... it would be interesting to see plans for something like this

that land was always set for hotel expansion though if I remember right
I mean to be fair if I had my way it'd all be theme park, non of this "Grand Californian" or even "downtown Disney" nonsense :P but Disney does as they please and I suppose it's not just about me.

This is actually an interesting discussion. Disney does usually earmark land for specific purposes, such as retail space (Downtown Disney), hotel space, and theme park space.
I think that they could have done something more creative with their construction, such as putting part of the Little Mermaid attraction under ground, and having part of the DVC units built on the 2nd floor of it. That would have given them extra space.
I'm just not sure how economically or structurally feasable that is, but it's one way they could better utilize the space. Realistically, there's quite a bit of expansion room on the property if they build another large parking structure and remove some lot space for park expansion.
Right now, in terms of expanding DL and DCA, I think it's more about budgets and such than it is about real estate.
It's too bad Walt didn't have the forethought to reserve a few hundred more acres, but at the time, I don't think he (or anyone) ever had a clue that the DLR would become this huge.

There is a parking lot being built below the new DVC wing, no space there for attractions. Space is very valuable at DLR even though there is room still to expand now they need to plan for the next 50 years. Walt bought as much land as he could and and still have enough money to build the park. He probably would have bought more if he could. I'm sure he thought the park was going to be successful, he did as much as he could finance.

I'm starting to wonder if we are really getting a Little Mermaid ride after all! Golden Dreams has been closed for six months and they haven't done a thing yet. This ride is supposed to open in like two years?!?
