How are oily stale potato chips any better?
The "healthy" excuse is just that: an excuse. The reason they ditched the fries is money. At Award Wieners, by cutting out the fries, they reduce preparation and clean up by not having to have friers. That means no oil, no electricity to heat the oil, no freezer to keep the fries frozen, no extra worker in the back to fry the fries, no clean up of the friers, no disposal of the oil, etc. It saves a bunch of time, effort, and money by just giving you a bag of chips.

i wish that werent true but its so true... its sad that you cant get things like a burger at a stand because they are harder to make, not because they wouldnt sell... and now the same is happening with one of the best foods in the world... fries....

I just wonder how much of these changes are also a way to limit liability. French fries are death. No matter what they do they are still carcinogenic and cooked in trans fat. Some of these ingredients are finding their way into the courts. I think ditching McDonald's may have been a step away from liability too. Potato chips are someone else's product. French fries are cooked on site and Disney is part of the process of production.

    Who knows?

And I don't care if people want to eat French fries. I don't eat them, but I would like healthy options besides fruit.

I doubt that is the case or else every other burger joint in the country would stop making french fries.

Also Mcdonalds walked away from Disney. They were the ones that did not want to renew the contract. For years they had exclusive rights to promote Disney movies but then Disney movies were not as profitable as the up coming Dreamworks and 20th century fox ones. Due to the contract with Disney they could not bid for those movies or promotional happy meals.

They eventually considered not renewing with Disney and then later also parted ways with the theme park exclusive rights because of bad relationships that were growing with both of them

I'm afriad you're misinformed. French fries at nearly all restaurants are now prepared (and have been for quite some time) in pure vegatable oil. No trans fats (or only trace amounts), no cholesterol.

Things could have changed since my days flipping burgers. However there are products which say trans fat free and are still hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated which means they still stick to you arteries. And frying a potato produces Acrylamide which is a carcinogen. French fries have at least 300 times more Acrylamide than what the EPA permits to be safe in a glass of water.

And I'm sure none of that will matter to people who love fries

And I would still like healthier alternatives than a fruit stand.

I am the same way. The way i look at it everything we eat is unhealthy if abused the occasional side of fries will not do any more harm than other so-called healthy foods.

I can not count the amount of times during my life that we saw medical reports saying that something was bad for you then a few years later its the opposite of wha they said before.

The other day in the news they were talking about how diet sodas could actually be good because they could reduce the creation of kidney stones. Yet if you ask anyone for years Diet soda was worse than regular sodas.

    Exactly!

Sorry, but if I'm at Disneyland, I'm going to eat fries, not cauliflower.
