I'm all for the names of the sections of DCA becoming "lands" if it helps erase the stupid district idea they had at the beginning. I still don't get how the part was three parts with sub parts. Like anyone cared? Carsland doesn't sound anymore lame than Tomorrowland. We have just sanctified Tomorrowland as perfect because it came from Walt's time. And Critter Country? Come on...Carsland isn't that bad. After all, I'd rather they spend more time rethinking Disney's California Adventure Park as a name.

I think "Route 66" is a cool name, but for that name the theme of the land is way too much (or only) "Pixar's CARS".
In fact it's a land about a movie, not about California, so it doesn't go with the California theme. It's not a themed land with 1 Cars themed attraction, it's just John Lasseter's dream: the Cars movie in the real world...Temper Temper...

I think everyone has their own opinion here.
I can say I didn't like the district idea and can totally understand the demand for more distinguished sections to the park rather then every section melting into every other section. With the size of the park being what it is I think that more distinguished lands will go a long ways towards making the park more visually entertaining.
However I don't care for moving the Disneyland naming convention into DCA. Carsland is the word land added to either a movie name or a very general concept depending on how you see it. Tomorrowland works when it's put inside DisneyLAND a park that also has Adventureland/Frontierland/Fantasyland which are all general concepts as well.
DCA is a very differen't park and after traveling to Florida and seeing some of the naming conventions that the other second gates have. I have no problem with DCA doing its own naming thing as well. It is clearly a Disney park but copying every little convention of Disneyland just seems to fuel the whole subsect of Californians who think eventually the parks will merge into one entity. I perfered it when Bugsland was named the farm, I don't care for Hollywood Backlot name and think it should just be called Hollywood and that Condor Flats should be seperate from whatever nature perserve the Grizzly area is supposed to be.
If I had my way I think Carsland would just be called Route 66 since that's the feel the area is supposed to draw from anyways. Whatever subsection used to have that name at DCA was never apparant to me and I don't think it was to the casual visitor either so I see no problem with moving it and doing it right but that's just me."We all have sparks, imagination... it's how our minds... create creations..."

I like the subtle address of the opening date with the whole "Schedule" announcement of the Red Car Poster. Looks like they're shootin for May '12 with this. Or am I reading into this sign too much?

What I've heard thus far is that the track will be laid but the attraction will not be running until Buena Vista Street is ready. May 2012 might not be too far off. Clever way for them to insinuate its opening without ruining the theme.
