Hollywood Pictures Backlot Construction and Retheming

...I think handprints of the characters on the sidewalk could be really cute....

I'd like to see a Chinese replica to go with that, or a new Hyperion facade. Is that still in the mix for the backlot area? Just seems that the new trolly tracks make the fake sky facade seem...well... not so much.

I miss the spraklely street myself.

Instead of stars like on the walk of fame, I always thought they could have a not so hidden mickey for the design.

I also kind of wish the entrance to the Disney Animation Building was at the corner where Off the Page is now, and the store was on the other end of the block by the Hyperion. It seems to be a more natural way to enter the building to me.

Looks like the Blue Sky Cellar confirmed the name change (or at least that a name change was in the works) when it first opened! Noticed this last weekend...



Of course, that arch is supposed to be coming out so they'll need to figure out where to put HOLLYWOOD LAND. Makes you wonder about what's going on at Disney Animation...

I'll be the first to say that I really don't like this entrance, especially with how clever the main entrance is by making it look like you're "shrinking." I guess it'll have to do, though.

You don't really shrink at the main entrance to Bugs Land. You walk through a farm to get to a giant cereal box. This new side entrance, you walk from the benches and planters to giant oversized roots, walk through plants and you're there. If anything, that's a better transition to me than the main entrance. Nothing beats the Tough to be a Bug transition though, very awesome use of perspective to let you feel you're shrinking.

This is going to be awesome!!!! Money should be poured into DCA and Disney is doing that. Just awesome!

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Walls will be going up on Sunset Blvd. in HPB on Aug. 22nd to continue work on the red trolley tracks. Guests who want to access ToT or the Hyperion Theatre will be forced to walk through a bug's land to get there........

Thanks for the news! Great to see they're really moving along with the tracks. Has any other attraction ever been built in so many phases? Not that laying separate pieces of track is a big deal, but it's need to see how many phases they cut the construction into.
