I they could use it to occupy some landfill space.

^I think that's about all they can do it with it, lol.

It would probably have to be dismantled piece by piece and then put back together (ie: not be worth the cost) but I could see it being a pretty cool piece at the Paradise Pier hotel... maybe in the pool area?

i mean if disneyland can close down for a day (may 04, 2005) as busy as that park is, why not dca for just a month?
Closing a park for a whole month and loose revenue on it is not the same as closing a park for a huge Media blitz for one day.

Its also not the same to have a few employees not show up for a day compared to having hundreds of them be layed off for a month

Is till think tehy should consider finding a museum or airport where they could donate the sun, the large entrance mural and the letters.

I actually had an idea for the sun while at Epcot last month. The ceiling for the Land pavilion is fairly bare. It holds the mechanics for the hot air balloon "chandeliers" to drift up and down (which sadly aren't used anymore), but they could be worked around. Here's what it looks like currently:

I think somehow building the sun into the ceiling would look great and complete the aesthetic. The problems I'm unsure of are size, and if the structure can support the weight.

I don't think the sun is a total waste, just really suckish as the park's hub. They could use it as a fountain/play area by the Paradise Pier Hotel pool, that would be cool. But it's probably not worth the money.

Wasn't it designed to last for a thousand years, or is that just an urban myth?
Yes, our world has indeed become a world of motion. We have engineered marvels that take us swiftly over land and sea, through the air, and into space itself. And still bolder and better ideas are yet to come. Ideas that will fulfill our age old dream to be free. Free in mind. Free in spirit. Free to follow the distant star of our ancestors to a brighter tomorrow. - World of Motion (1982-1996)
