I really love how this design panned out!!! The only thing I would change would be the entrance gates. I find the PanPacific a bit odd. I would prefer an enclosed building in theme to Union Station or another LA 20's train depot. In effect, you would be stepping into California like Walt did.
Quick Question: Will balloons and other things that come in contact or stuck on the wires above the red car line be a hazard, both electrically or as a tangle?

tayati- i actually think your Union Station entrance sounds brilliant! although it probably would take up more space, it would set the tone for the park (arriving in california as walt would have).
i was at the parks on 10/10 and was looking at some of sunshine plaza's buildings. the whole zephyr/bakery section is my favorite segment of the current plaza and really didn't want to see the train go. your Union Station idea might incorporate a few trains back into the park.
of course, i'm just wishing...Once a year we love to drop inWhere the beer is never stoppinFor the chance to pop some popinjayAnd pick a king who'll put the "top" inTopsy Turvy Day!

Good question. I wonder if they'll use real electric cables or just ones for show and have the trolley run on some other form of energy.
I also agree about the turnstile structure. Although LA is filled with a variety of architecture styles, they aren't seen this close together and it doesn't flow as well. Of course I trust the Imagineers to figure out how to make it all work together.

I second that seconding of your idea for union station or some kind of train station entrance! Either way, for me the entrance is also the only thing about this new area I'm not too keen on. Of all the ideas out there, was copying DHS' entrance really all they could come up with?
Otherwise it all looks great and will really improve the feel of the entire park.

PanPacific is odd to me due to the Hollywood-ness of the art-deco design. I would actually like to see some kind of PanPacific art deco in the actual Hollywood section, possibly a change to the Hollywood and Highland themed entrance to that portion of the park. I kind of wonder how the red car wires will be incorporated into the Hollywood entrance anyway...
The train station wouldn't need to be very large, but I think it would be a fantastically different take on the entrance. Wouldn't it be awesome to find yourself inside a wonderful mission style building with the clicks and dings of ticket takers and turnstiles as all of the guests step off their "train" and out the big train staion doors into Buena Vista Street. The "station" would act as a fantastic opportunity to add a more "iconic" look to the entrance as well as supplying drama to the grand entrance to the Golden State. It's kind of fun to do the impossible. - Walt Disney

My speculation before was that the overhead lines would be theatrical and not electrified. I think the potential issues with balloons and things could create problems. Maybe not, but I still think that with todays technology, there's probably a better way of powering the trolleys.
I'm guessing they go with a newer method, maybe hydrogen fuel cell power (the only exhaust is water vapor), but that requires a hyrdogen fueling tank. They could use simply electric battery powered trolleys, and switch them off to be recharged when the batteries run low. It will be interesting to see what they do.

i like the train station idea but at the same time i don't think that both parks need to have a train station in its entrance.
i dothink the pan pacific will be a nice contrast that will attract people better into the park than the hidden entrance behind the letters

i personally am not sure how they could fit a union station structure at the entrance without coming too far out into the esplanade. i love the idea, i just don't think there would be enough room. and i do think it would be different enough from disneyland's train depot and would probably have a 'wow!' factor. someone had mentioned a few ideas earlier and i just thought they were very original. but instead of going under the train tracks like at disneyland, guests would walk through the station that held stationary zephyrs. just thinking about how they could theme the lockers in such a place would be very cool. and then stepping out from union station and seeing the statue of walt with suitcase and a young mickey looking towards the carthay circle theater almost gives me chills.

The "theme" of trains intrigues me. The storytelling that crosses the esplanade is something that has never been done before, in effect acting like chapters. The Main Street - Buena Vista Street interaction in storytelling illustrates that. The "train" theme seems to be something integral to the opening lines of both Disneyland's chapter one and DCA's chapter two.
Realistically, the "station" wouldn't have to be much larger than any normal gates. At its core, the structure would simply be a roof and walls around the turnstiles and proper and creative theming. A slight bit of protrusion into Buena Vista Street might be appropriate acting as a vestibule before exiting the station. The "train" that the guests "step off" is a symbol for the reality you leave when you enter the park.
Although the current entrance is not very aesthetically pleasing, I love how it dramatically conveys the message of the park and invites you to join.
