Here are my thoughts on why Canada could host a Disney park. OH YEAH I'M CANADIAN.
Ok YES. It does get a little cold up here in canada, but WE ARE USED TO IT. We have theme parks up here that are very sucessfull. Six Flags, and Paramount, a long with the indoor theme park at the west edmonton mall.
Kabillions (may have made that up) of canadians make the trip to a disney park each year in the us. Just look at the license plates in the parking lots. We would love a park because Disney is so huge here, and the vacations to a park for us just rock, because although our countries are so simmilar, they are also so different, and the experience is wonderful.
We don't have three theme parks in every state ( we haev provinces but same difference). We don't have huge cities up the block. Thats why we save for these trips and don't care how long our visa bill becomes because it happens so unoften.
A disney park would do very well in Canada, because we are known all over the world as a safe and peacefull country. Thats very attractive to people all over the world. There wouldn't nessicarily have to be a magic kingdom. There could a park based on the wilderness of Canada, or something allong those lines. Then as years go bye several other NEW idea's for parks could arrive.
The perfect locations would be Point Pelee Ontario, the southren most point of Canada, which has California weather, and is still very close to Washington DC, NYC, other U.S. melalopolis cities, and is also in the center of Canada, were a Disney park isn't even close. Although it still recieves very little snow the idea of a canadian winter could easily be transformed in to an ice/snow (again anyother idea) theme park. Disneyland Paris has snow, and even a winter brochure. Canada could easily adopt the same idea's.
My second and last Canadian resort destination would be Vancouver British Columbia. While the mountain tops do have snow, Vancouver gets little to none! Think of a park amongst soaring mountains, this could easily be themed in to an amazing park. Vancouver does get alot of rain, but the same problem has been seen at TDS. A canadian park would probably not have a Magic Kingdom, but they too could make like TDS and build a glass structure of beauty and have ride line ups semi indoors.
Have i convinced you that Canada is a good spot? probablt not, but its just an opinion peice. We are in close proximity to WDW and DLR (same continent) but who says we need a MK? Why can't a resort be Totally unique, and have never been done before? It would be a huge risk, but wasn't EURO Disney? A failure in the beginning, is now a gem, could that ever bee the case here?????
sorry for the length,
- Greg
Again, just an opinion peice, constructive criticizem welcome, and i really want her YOUR views, aswell as any addition's by fellow Canadians in favour of my projected idea. Are any Canadians opposed?

Re: Share My Thoughts
Canada doesn't deserve a disney park.Any country who sends us Brian Adams, Celine Dion,John Tesh, and Alex Trebeck should be punished not rewarded. I think the only reason we haven't nuked you guys is because of the kids in the hall,Pam Anderson, and skinny puppy.

Re: Share My Thoughts
Don't blame us for John Tesh. He's New York's fault.
While I would love to have a Disney park in my backyard, I don't think there is really a realistic chance of them building one.
If they were to build one in the Vancouver area (or even better - Calgary), I'd be sure to pay frequent visits. On the other hand, if they were to build it in Ontario or Québec, I would still choose SoCal and DLR because it's closer (a 3hr flight to LAX compared to 5hrs to T.O.) and if I were going to take a longer trip, I would choose the Sunshine State and the massive WDW (plus IoA).Just the stupid ramblings of a drunkard.

would you still go to disneyland if the canadian parks weren't just a MK clone, and were very different, and you could use your canadian dollar?

Some things I really liked that were from Canada were SCTV, that was one funny show! Kurt Browning was another great product from up north but not many here would know who he is.

Re: Share My Thoughts
I would probably go to a Magic Kingdom anywhere in a 3,500 mile radius of California in North America. Besides, Canada is America junior!
Would I support it? No. MK has already been ripped off too many times. WDW MK proved that it could be redone and enhanced, and past that, it just got tired. The other resorts need their own parks with their own themes.City Hall Complaint Count: 201

Re: Share My Thoughts
I truly agree, and thats why i wouldn't want the canadian one to have a MK, and i would want it to have all original parks.

Re: Share My Thoughts
I had more idea's for a canadian park. There could be all sorts of things themed winter. You could take a vacation in teh middle of summer to any icy, yet hot location! The rides could be all ice themed, and there would be perfect room for a blizzard beach type water park. You could take the general idea of a disney park (lands.. you get teh picture) and you could theme it much like the way bugs land took regular rides and themed them, only you could have it all ice cold. There could be all sorts of shows like a snowday/ snow ball fight show, or even a toon town that was hit withan ice storm. All teh characters could be all dressed up in parka's like at DLP, and if it was in teh mountains, oh that would be the perfect backdrop!!!!! How exciting it would be, but god knows its all just a dream lol

Re: Share My Thoughts
I would be worried about te Polar Bears, Moose and Eskimos. Not to mentions everything would sound kinda funny... Disneyland eh. Small World eh, Mickey Mouse eh. of course no churros... Blubber on a stick. You guys can just come down here. You know, it is hard to tell tell the difference between a Canadian and someone from Arizopna.
