If nothing further happens, it's probably because the Indian officials weren't willing to meet Disney's demands (which is basically, "you pay most of the cost, we'll keep most of the profit").
If the meetings did go well and the Indians were receptive to Disney's initial overtures, there will still be many months of negotiations and planning before anything official is announced. During that time, one of the biggest mistakes Disney could make would be to say too much, too soon.

There is a chance of a Ponderosa Steak House opening in India first before we see DL India being built. Besides... most of the population there could not even afford to pay the parking lot fee much less a day at DL.

I know because I work for an airline that flies there and have been in India several times on layovers.

the same could be said for much of china as well... the standard of living is not what it is in the west. but Disney is banking on the future...
again I could care less about whether they open a park there, but if they do, good luck to them...DCA 1/2 the park, Same low price....

I know there is poverty to be found in China, but I have been to both India, China, and Hong Kong and am here to tell you the standard of living in India is still way behind China's. ...and even some of those cities, like Hong kong are even more trendy that some of our big metrolopis in the USA.

Actually, Hong Kong was part of the United Kingdom, until 1998, when the UK finally gave the city back to China, which might be a reason it's "trendy." I believe 2% or so of the population is British, too, so English-speaking travelers at HKDL probably won't have much trouble.
Anyways, building a Disney theme park in the most populous nation in the world is probably a good idea. Can you imagine how many passholders they'll have?!

Yup. And Light Magic is on hiatus. What executives say is of little consequence. I'm not saying DLND (ha ha...it looks like a shortened Disneyland but in reality it stands for Disneyland New Delhi) is a go, because I haven't the foggiest idea, but I do know that there are three types of people in this world whom you cannot trust to tell the truth: politicans, executives and Neil Diamond fans.

So are you saying that another Disneyland/Magic Kingdom Park in the U.S. that offered entirely different experiences wouldn't be appealing enough for you to visit? Just because it is called Disneyland does not mean it has to have Sleeping Beauty's Castle, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and a Jungle Cruise. There are many other Disney castles that could be the centerpiece of a park...Western River Expedition could be a great replacement for Big Thunder- and which would still be a crowd pleaser...and the Jungle Cruise doesn't have to be a serene boat ride- we all know Disney can produce thrills on water as seen with Splash Mountain... so yes, it seems Disneylands as cookie-cutter parks wouldn't seem like a wise move...but they don't all have to be built exactly the same.

China makes sense ,but in India ? American culture is not exactly revered in India ,why dont they just build one in Iraq!?!? not to mention most of the One Billion people that live in India cant afford to eat dinner ever nite
Its a very sad thing but its true.
And you can talk of the growing middle class all you want ,but remember class is measured from rhe bottom up and lower class in the States dosnt seem so bad in comparisons.Dont get me wrong I'm sure the people of India are wonderful people and deserve to experiance the magic of Disney as much anyone else but I'm not sure if it is a wise business move or if it is even safe.
