    Anyone cruise lately?

Has anyone cruised lately, or at all? I am planning a 7-day cruise for 2006. I would love to hear any stories, tips, or must see things!

Does a submarine count as a cruise

But seriously, We liked our cruise from a few years back.(It wasn't Disney tho) Do you like constant activity or would you prefer to relax more?
Nassau was a lot of fun. Plenty of shopping and sightseeing there. Plan and reserve any shore excursions before you go. Travel insurance is a good idea for such a large ticket trip. We had a nightmare scenario with Delta and our luggage, so make sure you carry on necessities and a set of clothes with you. We didn't have a change of clothes for 2 1/2 days We had to borrow all kinds of things from people. Relaxing on a hammock on the island beach we stopped at was very romantic and relaxing . Be careful with new airline baggage rules for excess weight charges if you buy duty free souvenirs. The overweight charges could wipe out any duty-free savings you might get. Passports ready? Have Fun

I took a Royal Caribbean cruise this past summer on Navigator of the Seas. A link to the exact cruise can be found here: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findac...de=&promoType=

It left from Miami. The ports were Puerto Rico, St. Thomas. St. Maarten, and the Bahamas. It was an excellent cruise, and I'd strongly recommend it. We did look at the Disney Cruise Line, and in comparison to Royal Caribbean as far as the ports, length of the trip, and price, it just didn't seem worth it. Disney was far more expensive (what a surprise) considering all of the above. Now I'm not knocking DCL, I know many people who have taken them and said they were excellent. But after spending a week in WDW, we didn't think we needed another week of Disney, nor to spend more money for less.

I've always taken Royal Caribbean, so that would be my recommendation.

That looks like a really good cruise. Did you do shore excursions at all the stops? There seemed to be a lot of good choices.

I don't think I would ever cruise with anyone except Disney. 1) Less Smoking on board. 2) No Gambling. 3) Kids are more entertained therefore...more behaved and out of the way of adults. 4) Adults areas on the ship. 5) I trust Disney quality and have read so many reviews of frequent cruisers who enjoy Disney the most. 6) The art of entertainment. 7) Dining rotation. 8) Castaway Cay. 9) Larger Staterooms....I can keep going.

Jen, make sure that you get an outside verandah, there truly is nothing better than waking up, walking out onto your patio and seeing the water and/or the new port of call.

Also, make sure you save some money in order to do the excursions the ship offers. We weren't aware of those, so we spent our days in port wandering, as opposed to the myriad of trips and excursions the ship offered.

If you're going to Nassau, do make a point of going to Atlantis. ALSO, remember, leave all your jewelry in your room safe. The first thing that happened in Nassau was someone tried to scam our rings off our hands. It's kind of a dingy place, so stay near all the other tourists.

Do you know what ports you're looking into going to?

    Cinder,

We are already booked. We have Cat 5 (Veranda) mid-ship.

We will be going to Castaway Cay, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and then Castaway Cay again. I am pretty sure we are going to do excursions at Grand Cayman and Cozumel, but we will do the non-disney ones. They are cheaper and pretty much better (less people). I have done tons of research and will def. do the stingray city tour...probably through Captain Marvin's. Disney charges twice as much and Captain Marvin's has less people on each boat. I have asked several people who have cruised and they say non-disney excursions are the way to go as long as you do your research.

How was the food onboard? I will def. make a trip to Palo!
