RCCL continues to outdo itself, I think, because it keeps everyone interested. Every time they premiere a new class of ships, people line up to pay top dollar to go on them, and the older ships don't seem to be affected, revenue-wise. Oasis doesn't make Freedom obsolete - no other line has anything like Freedom-class.

Disney most certainly is not the excellence standard in cruising, but they price themselves to be as such and describe themselves as a "luxury" cruise line. In the travel industry, luxury cruise lines include Crystal, Regent Seven Seas and Cunard. Disney is a mass-market line with paltry amenities. That's my main beef with DCL - way overpriced for what you get. The only reason you pay thousands of dollars to board is that the boat says "Disney" on it. It is not a luxury line (and neither is RCCL). Its ships are old and outdated - Disney is usually an innovator. Their laurel-resting in the cruise arena has always baffled me.

Disney Cruise Line currently has two ships, in a little while it will have four. Its kind of hard to compare them to a company that has over 10... Disney is a specific market for kids and family's . we try to cater to adults by the certain adults only areas but reality is its a kids and family cruise. and they are the best at providing that right now.
