I personally don't want to see another Disneyland Magic Kingdom or clone of any park anywhere else. I think that it has gotten to the point where Disneyland and Walt Disney World are no longer special destinatoins.
Now, it seems that wherever you go, there is a Disneyland on your continent. This seems to me, anyhow, that this will actually attract less visitors. People used to visit from all over to see Disneyland or Wat Disney World, this is pretty much no longer the case. Disneyland plays to mostly a local market now, and Walt Disney World is headed towards that direction too.

You have a point that the Magic Kingdom is becoming too common a park if allowed to continue expanding around the world. But I'm sure Disney took into consideration the fact that visitors would be most likely to visit their "local Disney park" rather than travel all the way to the United States as they once had too to see a Magic Kingdom and Mickey Mouse.

And the Japanese parks are so well done.
I support the idea of a final third Disney Resort in the US either in Texas or northwest of New York City where much of the US population is centered. A New York park complex might skim off some WDW visitors, so my choice is Texas, but not include a Magic Kingdom. MK's are too close by on each coast. Let Texans and mid-westerners still visit Mickey at those Magic Kingdoms. The parks in Texas should be different such as Disney's America including a major section on Texas history, and/or my suggested "DisneySky" aviation/space theme park.

Re: Next Disneyland, Where?
hmm... i say what they say no more mk's please , but their is a ppoint mainly every disney park has a companion park as long as they contuinue to build them in a unique uncloned fashion , nothing would really be affected..but they, Disney should stay close to their resorts. Building too many in different states will suck out customers to WDW and DLR so i say a new park would be in the staate of Florida or California thatll be ok for now in the near future probably something will go great and well have disneylands in every country snd state AHH thatll be scary nvm..
have a great day!!

Re: Next Disneyland, Where?
i think that next disney park should be build in south america or in eastern europe.. after all, there are two grand disney resort in united states which population is about 270 million. i know that usa is a promised land for theme parks but they also have many other big parks, like six flags and cedar fair parks. building a park in 20 million citizen's australia would be bad choice. asia has a huge amount of people but they already have two parks.. south america has over 300 million people but no parks at all.. and in europe: there are over 700 million citizens and a large tourism... still, building a park in great britain would be too close to paris.. howbout building it somewhere in southern italy maybe? i know it's not too far from paris, but as i said: tourism is a large element in that area.. i think that it's still a better idea than having another park in usa, or building ones in australia or great britain...

Re: Next Disneyland, Where?
Well, according to Disney, the next one will be in Asia, again. Bejing is being scouted for a possible DL which could be next, pending the success of Hong Kong Disneyland. The Disney Channel has just arrived in India and if there's a large disney audience there, a DL might appear there also.
Since Euro Disneyland was built as " the " disneyland for all of Europe and considering it's the lowest income DL, Disney will not build another one in Europe.
As for South America, Jim Hill discussed this in an article a few months ago, saying that if a DL were built south of the border, it would lower attendance at the Walt Disney World Resort. Although it's been proposed, this area will probably not get a DL ( and if it happens, it won't be for a long time ).
Don't know of any other areas that have been discussed.Last edited by zapppop; 08-12-2003 at 09:59 PM.

Re: Next Disneyland, Where?
Since I am from Australia, that would be the place to go. There was a rumour going around here that Disney was planning to take over "Australia's Wonderland" on the outskirts of Sydney.

Re: Next Disneyland, Where?
I think 3 parks within a couple hundred miles of each other is a bit much even though there are so many people in Japan and China. I would prefer no more parks but if there had to be one, Im for Australia, good tourism industry and I think there is a WB park there so some competition would be good.

Re: Next Disneyland, Where?
We are over 8 hours flying time for either.
One more bonus for us is that the prices would be in Aussie dollars instead of USD.
We are coming to DLR in December and the price of everything is in effect nearly double for us because of our weak exchange rate.
