Aulani Hawaii Resort, DVC at Ko'Olina

I just read elsewhere, that a new "fixed week" option has been added to Aulani purchases. It costs 10% more. Also sales have already started for those that talked with their guides today, and some have already bought points at Aulani.

A miniature model of the resort (smaller than the one shown at the D23 Expo) was on display for D23's Aloha Aulani Reception at the Disneyland Hotel.

We went to DVC Member event called Hawai'i Homecoming at the Disneyland Hotel.

The first 800 Founding Members of Aulani will also get a special tribute in the stone Pohakus that are being created for the Hotel.

My husband, son and I went to the Roosevelt Field Mall today and stopped in the Doorway to Dreams there to show my one year old the big Mickey Mouse. Of course we got to chatting with the Cast Member and next thing you know we are inside checking out the new model. It's gorgeous! We sat with a guide quickly just to hear the incentive (still too much for us even to add on 50 pts). She didn't talk about making it rain. Was that a joke? Because I wouldn't put it past Disney to do that!!!

Coming from NYC, a trip to Hawaii really needs to be at least 10 days long to make the travel worth it. So, banking/borrowing to get to just one week every three years if we purchased there still doesn't realy make sense. Plus, I'm pro resale to save money

One day I will get out there. Loved the private lagoon and the swimming pools. Looks really peaceful!!

Oh, and the fixed week thing? Strange for point centric DVC, huh?

The fixed week is merely shown for illustrative purposes. A week is a good general rule of thumb that most people might want to spend at Disney so it's included to show what the daily rate is times seven days.

We were very tempted to add-on points at the Aulani event, it came out to about $5000 to add on the 50 points, so so tempting to be Founding Members in Hawaii!

As far as the rain, not a joke! They did not get into specifics but the effect will occur at Auntie's House. Auntie's House will be like the big day-care day-camp at the hotel for kids. They said that the rain would tie into the small movie theater before each film, I believe. I believe they talk about it in Video 2 of 4 above.

I think the OP was talking about the extra cost fixed week option DVC is selling for Aulani.
