I really don't think that Buzz Lightyear is going to save Tomorrowland. I think trying to theme a land to the future is as bad as trying to theme a park to California. Beyond Innoventions I don't think there has been an attraction that has fit the theme since the late 60's. Innoventions failure just proves the failure of the whole concept. The 1998 update should have been renamed Failureland. The worst move had to be Star Tours which handcuffed Disney to George Lucas for updates. Only Michael Eisner would be dumb enough to make that deal. I would give it back to Lucas. Star Wars one and two were terrible anyway. It would be nice if Disneyland would give some of Tomorrowland to Fantasyland. I can think of many attractions for Fantasyland that could use the Submarine Voyage area, the Circlevision building and the Autopia. Buzz Lightyear fits into Fantasyland much better than to Tomorrowland anyway. Maybe its time to completely rethink the area. Paris has Discoveryland and I have heard that Tokyo wants to change their Tomorrowland to Sci-Fi city. How about a completely new idea for Disneyland. Any ideas?

Re: Buzz Lightyear to the rescue?
couldnt disagree with you more.
first of all,Star Wars 1 and 2 were great films, they set the stage for the rest of the fliks....I firmly beleive that whenever you have a franchise or product, like Star Wars or Disney, you get alot of culty fanatics, and they tend to be extremly picky...Star Wars and Disney both have crazy critics and its because they both have huge following...ppl analyze both of thier stuff to the max.
Tomorrowland is not a failure in terms of theme,I think a land based on the future is cool, however I think Walt made a mistake in which he tried to make Tomorrowland a feasable realistic view of the future,I think TL should have a much more sci-fi fantasy future feel to it,that way it can also age better...

Re: Buzz Lightyear to the rescue?
I think this is the problem too. They could have made an incredible new Tomorrowland if they'd put the cash into it, but that didn't seem to happen.

NOTE TO READERS: YellowMan has been known to joke around from time to time. Please don't take some posts by him to their full, literal meaning. Doing so will most likely end in one of the following: making a fool of YellowMan, making a fool of yourself, making a fool of Ronald Reagan, drymouth, or in rare cases, death. Thank you and enjoy your stay.

before the 1998 rennovation of TL,I used to hear ppl walk by saying "this is Yesterdayland" ,Id hear all kinds of negative comments about TL....I rarely hear that now a days with this new TL,in fact I dont hear anyone at the park really bad mouth it.....however,on Disney fan sites you hear ppl praise the old TL and knock the new one down alot...I think ppl who are Disney fanatics (like us),see the park alot differently then those who are just "normal everyday guests". in my opinion.

no,Hell didnt freeze over but I do kind of agree with Yellowman
I do think "theme"wise,Buzz fits into TL,why not? hes a space cadet,no problem there.HOWEVER I do think Buzz's color scheme will look god aweful in TL,in fact I think most of Pixars stuff looks tacky against Disney characters....Im not digging the neons Pixar loves to use...I think that the neon green and purple will look hideous in TL,and thats the color scheme of Buzz.
dont get me wrong,im totally "for" Buzz coming to TL,overall I think its a positive thing,I just dont like the color scheme of Buzz in general and dont think it will fit in with our gold and brown TL. IMHO

Re: Buzz Lightyear to the rescue?
BrerRob, I dont think that Buzz's point is to be the one ride that will save all of the Tomorrowland. But it is a start. Hopefully Buzz is just a start in the right direction to fixing Tomorrowlands problems. But will it be the holy grail that saves all of Tomorrowland? If you think it will, your hopes are way to high.....

Re: Buzz Lightyear to the rescue?
I definitely over-analyze Disney. My friends get sick of hearing about it (although they want to know where I go to find out what I know). Two or three years ago, I was just the average tourist, now I'm a card carrying (AP), internet reading, Disneygeek.
Back on topic, I think I'm one of the desperate people who feel that anything right now will help TL, even Buzz. But then again, I liked Pooh (don't think less of me for saying it). It could have been more, but it's fun for what it is. Buzz could be very cool, and I've never been to WDW, so that's part of my excitement too.We wish you a Scary Christmas, and a Haunted New Year!
