HM Rumor?

While waiting for the Fantasmic seating in the gallery, a friend and I were talking/speculating about the HM movie. My friend said he wasn't sure about Eddie Murphy in the movie, when a lady got into the conversation.

She said she had been present in some of the filming and really felt the movie will do well (in her opinion, not as well as Pirates). But she spoke highly of the sets and said "We're trying to negotiate getting some of the movie sets like Master Gracey's entry staircase set". I asked if she meant for the load/unload area... she said yes... but they're still negotiating. She wasn't a working CM and I was too intrigued to think to ask her where she worked... or ask when she said "we" was she meaning "we" fans or "we" TDA.

Has anyone heard anything like this... the set drawings for the staircase are wild! Would be great if this were true.

I have been hearing some ideas on bringing some set pieces from the movie and adding some other additions to the DL HM after the holiday. I don’t know if these ideas are still in negotiations but I know the ideas were talked about during production of the film. I heard of them wanting to re-theme the Séance Room and the Limbo Room (loading room) and adding little things to the Graveyard scene. Let’s hope if anything happens they don’t remake the mansion into a movie set.

I remember there being big rumors a couple of years ago about redoing the loading area of the Haunted Mansion. I believe it was "Jim Disney" on his website who spoke in detail about the plans Marty Sklar had for the Haunted Mansion when he gave that "Town Hall" presentation to WDI about what he would like to do for Disneyland's 50th Anniversary, and how he wanted to give massive makeovers to "Five Classic E Tickets" for the 50th, the Haunted Mansion being one of them.

Anyway, there were some very solid rumors a couple of years ago about adding a grand staircase and detailed set pieces in the big room that is the loading area for the Haunted Mansion. But then those rumors died out, and Mr. Sklar's WDI plans to redo five E Tickets were shot down and cancelled by the accountants.

But it wouldn't surprise me if they eventually do add some better eye candy to that big, blank loading area room. There certainly has been rumors about it for years now, so I'm sure there are some rather detailed plans already in existence for such a thing. It certainly needs it, that's for sure.

that would be awsome. what would they do with the changing portraits will they work them into that kinda set or move them to other parts of the ride?

also I've heard stuff about in one of the HMH years there being an extra room in the mansion? I've never seen HMH and I was also wondering if they could add more rooms to the mansion?

The Hall of Portraits would remain in the same spot and most likely untouched. Most of the attention (that I have heard) will be focused in the Hall of Limbo (loading room) and maybe other scenes in the ride, like the Séance Room. That is if the changes are getting the green light.

And for HMH, there are no extra rooms in the mansion the omnimover can travel though. They just change the original scenes for the overlay.
