Although I was going to post this question following up on another thread, I will ask it here as a separate one.
Some discussions have been posted regarding fantasy vs real places at DLR. Is it possible to have both? Now, I know some people won't bother to take the time to tour Innoventions today, the Walt Disney Story exhibit when it was on Main Street, the old House of Tomorrow or old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea movie prop exhibit in Tomorrowland in the park's early years.
Too dull. I guess the thinking is if you can't ride it, don't bother. I noticed the NASA exhibit with the Mars Rover is being scrapped for Buzz Lightyear. Interesting that a important space exploration vehicle, a real life space item, is being replaced by a totally fanciful animation figure. I'm sure Buzz will be more fun, but would people still be interested in seeing a new major NASA exhibit such as Disney did for NASA in Houston built in Tomorrowland? It certainly would fit in with Walt's original plans for Tomorrowland.
SeaWorld parks manage to educate and still entertain guests about marine life and the ocean. Both exhibits and rides. Real shows. As much as I think DisneySea is a beautiful and nicely-themed park, it really doesn't have anything of substance that I know of, about explaining the oceans (which is the primary theme), marine life, etc. and uses the water theme only to dress up a variety of attractions.
I'm disappointed that that EPCOT has changed World of Motion which told a fun history of the automobile for another thrill ride. Yes, it could have used some updating. And talk of adding a coaster to SpaceShip Earth annoys me for as is, SSE is one of the best dark rides telling a history by Disney anywhere in the world.
I envision any aviation/space theme park that Disney might build in the future, if ever, would have state-of-the-art exhibits, real historical aircraft and attractions theme to real people and events, as well as, fantasy attractions using famous Disney characters and film sources.
