Hi, I'm a college student at UCSD, thinking of applying to be a summer part-time CM, and take classes at UC Irvine. I've called the employment lines to ask about logistics, but nobody there seems to be willing to tell me anything until I walk in with an application.
How good are my chances of getting a job, given that I'll be in class presumably every morning? Are they only interested in people who are free and available all day, or would a cinsistent schedule block be okay?
I ask because if I don't get a job at DLR, there's really no reason for me to head up to Irvine. However, they won't let me apply in advance or anything, so if I'm gonna go for it, I'd have to commit to being in Irvine all summer a couple months before I know if I'll actually be working there. so to all you CM posters, any thoughts or advice?
Thanks.

Re: Summer DLR Employment
If you just want a summer job, you will be a CT (Casual Temporary, which only work during Peak Periods). But you have to be Fully Available during peak periods.
During off-season, they give you availability forms to fill out, and you just put what hours you can work day by day and what days you are not available.
I personally have had no problem. Disneyland is great at scheduling you around YOUR schedule.
But personally, I would just apply for CR (Casual Regular) status. I mean, you get a Main Gate Pass which is the biggest perk, IMO. You won't be able to get one as a CT. You only have to be available on the weekends to be a CR.Last edited by dizfan; 02-05-2004 at 09:33 PM.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive. If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

Re: Summer DLR Employment
When I was a CT, I only got 4 hour shifts, almost always closing shifts. You gotta have mornings free for training though.
And I turned CR and still went to school and only worked Fri, Sat, and Sun. It was tough losing the weekends (and any real breaks in the week), but a lot of fun. Go for it.
It's really easy to get hired in as a CT and then convert to CR at the end of the season.
Main Gate Passes are cards that part-time or full-time cast members get to "sign in" up to 3 people per day, 16 times a year. (Block out days excluded)Just here. Nowhere.
